In this write-up, I’m gonna highlight these factors of four different Sauvage.

So, stay tuned till the end!

Clash Of Scents: Dior Sauvage EDT vs EDP vs Parfum vs Elixir

Sauvage EDT

Main Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Pepper, Lavender, Vetiver, Ambroxan, Cedar

The most popular and ultra-fresh flanker Sauvage Eau de Toilette, was released in September 2015.

This citrusy, woody, and ambery aromatic fragrance is completely inspired by the fresh and youthful aura of nature.dior-sauvage

On one side, it represents the bright tropical environment. On the other hand, it resembles wild nature, and that is obvious because the French word Sauvage means wild or natural.

Sauvage EDP

Main Notes: Bergamot, Star Anise, Lavender, Ambroxan, Vanilla

The Eau de Parfum flanker releases a fresh and spicy aroma, like the original one. But the difference lies in the gourmand vanilla tone, which is prominent in the dry down.

This 2018’s edition is classic, smooth, and lasts longer on the skin. I guess the main idol of this cologne is star anise, which gives rise to a higher aromatic feel.Dior Sauvage EDP

The amazing scent makes the wearer attractive to others and pulls endless compliments. Hence, it is one of the best smelling Dior colognes for men.

Sauvage Parfum

Main Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Tonka Bean, Vanilla

With more concentration and a rich ambery aroma, Sauvage Parfum stepped into the fragrance world in 2019.

It is dense and sensual hence suitable to wear on winter nights. Similar to the other Sauvage frags, the citrusy vibe is present in this cologne; however, the spicy vibrancy is missing.sauvage-parfum

The core and dry down of this scent are woody, ambery, and vanillic. It seems very cozy and mature, which is perfect for an adult gentleman.

Sauvage Elixir

Main Notes: Spices, Grapefruit, Lavender, Licorice, Sandalwood, Amber

The last variant on the Dior Sauvage list is Elixir, which is the boldest and deepest flanker. Spice, wood, maturity, masculinity, and complexity are all blended into this cologne.

However, it lacks the citrusy touch that you can find in other Sauvage scents. Rather, it leans more toward the spices and some oriental notes.

This potent fragrance is great for colder months and grabs the attention of others instantly. It is definitely a head-turner with enormous sillage and excellent longevity.

The master perfumer Francois Demachy was behind all of these brilliant Sauvage creations. In 2021, he came up with the latest one i.e. Elixir. He tried to highlight creativity and a masculine tone through each of the fragrances. And I guess he has done the job perfectly.sauvage-elixir

Now, let me assist you in choosing the right Sauvage for yourself.

So, here is the comparison between Dior Sauvage EDT, EDP, Parfum & Elixir:

Opening

Sauvage EDT opens with the zest of Calabrian bergamot and pepper. So, you might feel how vibrant the starting aura is. Because when the citrusy bergamot essence gets mixed with spicy pepper, it conveys a refreshing and sharp aroma.

You may find the opening metallic and overpowering.

But to me, this citrusy-spicy preface seems bright, energetic & buoyant without being overpowering.

The opening of Sauvage EDP is relatively gentle than EDT. Because the perfumer added only juicy bergamot at the top but omitted spicy accords. However, a delicate hint of pepper, coming from the middle phase, tickles the nose along with the blast of bergamot. It is citrusy and less peppery.

Sauvage Parfum presents a sweet orangish flavor at the very beginning. The fruity and tangy flavor mainly originates from bergamot and mandarin orange. Besides, a sweet & lemon-peppery type smell comes from Elemi resin.

In my opinion, the start of Parfum is more citrusy compared to EDT and EDP. Because all three ingredients on its top elicit a pure citrusy flavor.

Elixir introduces its strong masculine profile from the first sniff. The opening is dense and super spicy, with a hint of grapefruit. It includes all basic spices such as nutmeg, cardamom, and cinnamon. And I could clearly perceive the cardamom and a bit of sourness in this masterpiece.

So, which one has the better opening?

From my perspective, Sauvage EDT has a better opening due to containing spicy and citrusy tones both.

Projection & Longevity

I’m totally impressed with the projection capability of Sauvage EDT and Elixir.

In general, EDT projects around 6 feet for 3 hours and lasts for 7-12 hours with strong sillage. If you enter the meeting room wearing Sauvage EDT, its perfume trail will instantly fill the room.

EDP also stands forward when it comes to longevity and sillage. On average, it stays for almost 10 hours on my skin. I found that it has a fantastic projection, but many wearers say that EDP projects moderately.

Maybe they are unwillingly making some basic mistakes that ruin the perfume, or the perfume doesn’t suit their body chemistry.

The projection of Parfum is moderate, but the woody, vanillic, and citrusy aroma of this cologne remains for 8-12 hours on the skin.

Now, let’s put attention on the winner of this segment i.e. Elixir. It is super long-lasting and unveils crazy projections. Hence, no other Sauvage is capable of beating this legend.

Once I apply this scent to my pulse points, it leaves tons of mesmerizing smell for the next 14 hours. I can sniff the scent from my clothes after 24 hours, and it seems like the scent is gonna last forever!

Undoubtedly, it is a whole room filler and attention-grabber cologne.

So, Sauvage Elixir is the proud winner in terms of the highest projection and longevity.

Compliment Factor

Each of the fragrances from the Dior Sauvage line is definitely the compliment gainer. So, it’s pretty hard to declare one as the champion, ignoring others.

However, the Parfum brings relatively fewer compliments due to its mediocre projection ability. And it’s obvious because how will people deliver compliments if they can’t get a whiff of the smell?

But the other three colognes bring numerous appreciation and make the wearer delighted.

Consequently, Sauvage EDT, EDP, and Elixir make a tie in case of the compliment factor.

Versatility

Sauvage EDT is comparatively fresh & brighter than the other editions. Both younger folks and adults can wear this cologne in summertime and spring. For testing, I have used EDT in winter too. Though it doesn’t feel inappropriate, it seems lighter on winter nights.

Parfum and Elixir are on the deeper side. A sweet, balsamic, and ambery-type flavor has been merged with the spicy-woody profile of these frags. They are sensual, appealing, and dark.

Hence, the nights of fall and winter are the best time to wear these scents. Whenever I get ready for date nights and dinner parties, I try to stick with the heavy Sauvage Elixir. But I always skip it on office days and formal events.

In my opinion, Sauvage EDP is the safest option at any time. The pleasant and well-balanced scent is suitable for any occasion and season.

Whether it is your first date or your friend’s wedding reception, you can appear wearing Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum & everyone will be in awe.

So, Sauvage EDP is the most versatile fragrance and the winner of this phase.

Value For Money

Apart from Elixir, the other three flankers of Dior Sauvage come in 4 different sizes. They are 30ml, 60ml, 100ml and 200ml. But Elixir is available only in 60 ml and 100 ml flacon.

To compare the price value, let’s see the price range of these frags.

EDT: $68 to $175
EDP: $85 to $215
Parfum: $105 to $250
Elixir: $180 to $250

The price of Elixir and Parfum is relatively high due to their higher perfume oil concentration. EDT is on the cheaper edge because of the least concentration; however, it develops a stunning aroma.

Considering the overall features, EDT and EDP hold a good value for the money. Whereas the other two are overpriced.

Overall Scent

Sauvage EDT is actually an inoffensive scent based on bergamot. It smells clean and airy with a sweet core. Lavender is apparent on the core, and the base is ambery and woody.

You can find a lot of youthfulness and a natural tone in this fragrance. It is easy to wear & always in my consideration for office wear.

The EDP is enriched with more freshness and tons of vibrancy. It perfectly holds the DNA of Sauvage. Spiciness, citruses, and muskiness all are beautifully merged in this cologne.

The heart and the dry down are simply amazing. A wonderful scent from the blend of star anise and lavender hits the nose in the middle stage. But the base is appealing with the sugary and creamy flavor of vanilla & ambroxan.

Parfum is mainly ambery, vanillic, and woody, with a strong citrusy opening. Sweetness is highly detectable in this cologne. But this one is kinda backward compared to other Sauvage frags due to its relatively weak projection.

Elixir is not the same as Parfum. It is the exceptional one and the spiciest Sauvage syrup. From my perspective, it is not the scent that you can wear everywhere and on a daily basis.

Rather this dark, strongest, and manly scent is perfect for romantic nights when you wanna stay closer to your beloved. It will enhance the desire for intimacy with its mysterious scent.

Considering the overall scents, Sauvage EDP is the winner, and Elixir is the unique one.

Final Verdict

So, it’s time to declare the winner among the stunning Sauvage scents.

From my testing and trial, Sauvage EDP is the most favorable for the beginner and also for the perfume enthusiast. It is superior in longevity, projection, and sillage. On top of that, it retains great value for the bucks.

You can use this cologne on any formal and casual function, regardless of the season.

But if you wanna stay with the most well-known and basic Sauvage, Eau de Toilette should be your signature pick.

However, if you prefer something absolutely different & want to get noticed at any cost, go for the standalone Elixir. It is definitely a compliment magnet. And I know any fraghead will always lean for the complex Elixir. But general people will like the fresh and clean aura of EDP and EDT.

That’s all about the celebrity of the perfumery world.
