Clash Of Scents: Creed Millésime Impérial Vs Aventus

Creed Millésime Impérial

Main Notes: Melon, Salty Marine Accords,  Bergamot, Violet Leaf, Iris Flower, Musk, Woody Notes.

Millésime Impérial is one of the beautiful creations of Creed that came out in 1995. Its olfactory journey begins with a great refreshment and then settles down in a smooth yet appealing base.

Olivier Creed and Pierre Bourdon worked unitedly behind this unisex fragrance.millesime-imperial-creed

Those who adore the smell of citrusy fruits, the peaceful natural tone, and the watery vibe will praise the aroma of Millésime Impérial for sure.

Creed Aventus

Main Notes: Pineapple, Blackcurrant, Bergamot, Birch, Patchouli, Floral Notes, Musk, Oakmoss.

Aventus is the most popular gem, which came out in 2010 with a chypre fruity, and smoky character.

There is a link between the designers of Creed Aventus & Millesime Imperial. Aventus was developed by Jean-Christophe Hérault and Erwin Creed.

Jean-Christophe Hérault stepped into the perfumery world with the guidance of Pierre Bourdon.aventus-creed

Whereas Erwin Creed entered the aromatic industry to continue their family business with success. He started learning from his father, Olivier Creed, who has years of experience. [Let me remind you that Pierre Bourdon & Olivier Creed were the designers of Creed Millesime Imperial.]

Now, let’s see whose creations stand out. Whether it is the mentors’ Millesime Imperial or the apprentice’s Creed Aventus:

Opening

The opening of Aventus is fresh, sharp, fruity, and citrusy. A strong hint of pineapple & citruses tickles the nose on the first sniff.

To be more exact, pineapple is one of the most dominating accords in this highly popular fragrance.

Bergamot and blackcurrant are another two ingredients that you can detect at the outset. Bergamot comes with its fresh, juicy, and citrusy essence. Whereas blackcurrant unfurls its fruity-woody character.

However, blackcurrant leaves an unpleasant tone sometimes, which makes the enjoyable opening of Aventus a bit pungent.

On the contrary, Creed Millesime Imperial starts with a fruity, melony, and salty-type smell.

There is a soothing trail of watery notes to remind me of the ocean, and it feels like having delicious watermelons sitting on the beach chair.

Sometimes, the orangish tone joins with watermelon and sea notes to develop an appealing entrance. That’s how the opening vibe is. It is so smooth, refreshing, and divine that you can use this signature scent for summer and spring days.

So, I think when it is a matter of bright, uplifting, and more easygoing opening, Millesime Imperial has the upper hand.

Projection & Longevity

The projection of Millesime Imperial is not pleasing to all. It projects moderately (3 feet around) for the first 3 hours.

Afterward, it becomes weak, and it seems like people have to nuzzle their noses into your skin to get the smell.

The longevity of this cologne is pretty good. With only 3 sprays on your pulse points, you’re set to retain the fresh vibe for the next 6 to 8 hours.

Contrarily, Creed Aventus attained much praise for its excellent longevity. It lasts for 12-15 hours with moderate perfume sillage.

Moreover, the scent cloud of this hype cologne is not outstanding, but it is much better than Millesime Imperial. As per the result of my testing, it radiates within 2-3 feet for the first 6-8 hours. That’s adequate and standard in case of such a daily wear fragrance.

So, Aventus is the clear winner in terms of better longevity and projection.

Compliment Factor

Now, let’s find out which legendary perfume pulls more compliments. Because all of us love to hear admiring words.

Undoubtedly, Aventus is the most well-known Creed cologne. Here, the notes are nicely balanced, and the chances of getting compliments are always high.

With a good length of scent bubble & longevity, it brings numerous compliments from colleagues, friends, family members, and also from unknown passers-by.

Conversely, Creed Millesime Imperial collects relatively fewer compliments. In the beginning, it remains soft, and after some hours, it is more likely a skin scent.

I wish this marvelous cologne could project a bit more strongly. Then it would be one of the greatest compliment pullers. Because, you will rarely find a person who doesn’t appreciate the fusion of fruits, marine accord, iris flower, and musk.

So, Creed Aventus is the champion with its high compliment factor.

Versatility

The gentle profile of Creed Millesime Imperial makes it suitable for hot and humid weather.

The light texture of this cologne is safe for office environments, formal activities, and working out on summer & spring days.

Also, when you’re going to the beach for a sunbath or to chill with friends, you can wear Millesime Imperial. It will provide you with a buoyant zest on sweating days.

However, it is not suitable for the chilly days. Then you need something dense like Tom Ford Oud Wood or Tobacco Oud or the versatile Creed Aventus.

Aventus is youthful at the top, natural and flowery in the heart, and musky-vanillic in the dry down.

That is, it becomes light to somewhat dense with transitions. There exists radiance and depth in a unique way.

Hence, you can wear this fragrance at any time of the year and anywhere you want. But I recommend this most for the pleasant weather of spring and autumn.

Comparing the two scents, I think Creed Aventus is relatively versatile, and you can wear it in any place & in any season.

Value For Money

Creed Aventus and Millesime Imperial are available in five sizes. The smallest size you will get is 50 ml.

In the case of Millesime Imperial, the price range varies from $345 to $1685. On the other hand, Aventus retails for $365 to $1850.

Undoubtedly, both of these Creed perfumes come with expensive price tags. And I think it’s really overpriced, what’s your view?

However, if you’re passionate about sniffing any of them, you can try the sample sets or 10 ml atomizers. These are relatively less expensive and may adjust in your budget.

Creed claims too much price for Aventus and Millesime Imperial cologne. None of the fragrances offer excellent value for the money.

Overall Scent

Creed Millesime Imperial is translucent and oceanic in the opening. It is reminiscent of fruit gardens and seaside beauty. The extract of Violet leaves adds a green nuance to it.

With time, it highlights the floral theme of Iris and a musky flavor. The dry-down is woody, earthy, and musky.

But it is not seductive or dense at any edge. Because an aquatic hint remains present all the way, which balances the overall aura and keeps it pleasant as well as crisp. So, you must have perceived it is not for nights and cooler weather.

Aventus is a bit more powerful compared to Millesime Imperial. Different layers of this fragrance are made from the inspiration of Emperor Napoleon’s dramatic journey of war, power, success, and peace.

The sweet and fresh fruity opening of Aventus is followed by a floral bouquet and a natural aura.

Dry birch, rose, jasmine, and evergreen Indonesian patchouli spread an enticing aroma. At last, this favorite flanker settles down with a warm, smoky, musky, and earthy nuance.

Considering all sides of the aromatic profile, Creed Aventus is the winner for me and perhaps for most of the gents too.

Final Verdict

After discussing all the important aspects, now it is time to make a final verdict regarding Creed Millesime Imperial & Aventus.

Actually, Millesime Imperial is for those who prefer a light and obviously nice scent for temperate weather days.

It stays close to the skin and provides an energetic feeling to the wearer without pinching others’ noses. The airy side of this cologne is pretty relaxing on the hottest summer days.

On the other hand, Aventus is a decent choice for all seasons. It offers a well-rounded performance with high-quality ingredients. If you’re looking for a mass-pleasing and compliment-grabbing flacon, look into this.

Otherwise, enjoy a blissful and tranquil aura under the gentle shade of Millesime Imperial.

That’s all for today!
