Versace Eros Vs. Dylan Blue: [Thorough Comparison 2024]

Written By John Carter

Eros and Dylan Blue are two well-known fragrances created by Versace that are marketed at men who are looking for a cologne that is distinctive and conveys an air of presence.

Given that they are both distinctive scents produced by the same infamous brand selecting one over the other might prove to be extremely challenging.

In spite of the fact that they share some characteristics, they are each exceptional in their own right and stand out regardless of the context.

So, given these two options, which one would you recommend I choose?

In this essay, I will examine and compare the many aspects of Versace Dylan Blue and Versace Eros, so be sure to keep reading.

Versace Eros Vs. Dylan Blue

Clash of Scents: Eros Vs. Dylan Blue

Versace Eros

Main notes: Mint, Green Apple, Lemon, Tonka Bean, Ambroxan, Geranium, Madagascar Vanilla, Virginian Cedar, Atlas Cedar, Vetiver and Oakmoss

Eros by Versace was launched in 2012 and created by Aurelien Guichard. It is, hands-down, one of the brand’s most popular and successful fragrances.

Eros is a fresh, woody and slightly oriental scent. The touch of green apple and vanilla gives it a pleasant sweetness and warmth.

The unique combination of mint, vetiver, ambroxan and cedar makes the fragrance even richer and more unique.

Versace Dylan Blue

Main notes: Calabrian bergamot, Water Notes, Grapefruit, Fig Leaf, Ambroxan, Black Pepper, Patchouli, Violet Leaf, Papyrus, Incense, Musk, Tonka Bean and Saffron.

Pour Homme Dylan Blue by Versace was launched in 2016 and created by Alberto Morillas. Even though it is not as famous as Eros, it is still hugely successful nonetheless.

Dylan Blue is an aromatic Fougere blend with fresh aquatic notes that add to its distinctive character.

As opposed to the scent of Eros, this one has a spicy and musky nature to it, making it a very appealing alternative.

Now, they are both excellent fragrances – but between Eros and Dylan Blue, which one do you think is the better choice?

In order to provide you with the most authentic answer, I have done extensive research and compiled a comprehensive comparison of these two fragrances.

Here is a detailed comparison between Versace Eros and Versace Dylan Blue:

Opening

The openings of these two perfumes are distinctly different.

Dylan Blue opens with a toned-down spicy and smokey sensation. It has a powerful first blast of grapefruit and bergamot, which is what gives it the citrus/aquatic sensation.

Additionally, it has a combination of citrus and ambroxan. Moreover, the first phases of Dylan Blue have an incredibly impressive fig note.

Because of how the grapefruit and fig notes combine, I believe this has become my favorite feature of donning this fragrance.

On the other hand, the opening of Eros is rather strong and really enjoyable. The mint, tonka bean, and vanilla are the primary notes that are present in the beginning.

The scent becomes even more enhanced by the green apple and lemon, which also contribute to Eros’ juiciness and gourmet quality.

In my opinion, the notes that stand out the most are the vanilla, the mint, and the tonka bean.

I find the opening of Dylan Blue rather enjoyable, and I believe it is one of the cologne’s most notable characteristics. However, Versace Eros definitely stands out from the crowd, and because of this, I’m going to give it the advantage.

So, which one has a better opening?

Between these two great starts, Eros has the better opening when compared to Dylan Blue.

Projection and Longevity

In terms of projection, Versace Eros is one of the market’s most massive and bold perfumes. That is one of the reasons why it is so popular. It is very detectable and makes your presence felt by those around you.

However, it might be too much for certain people.

Dylan Blue gets a solid start but fades after nearly an hour. After that, it’s quite mild for the most part until it becomes a faint skin fragrance. It’s not as bad as it might be.

When it comes to longevity, again, Eros has a mindblowing performance. It lasts for a very long time, and you can literally get a whiff of it even after 12 hours.

While Dylan Blue also has quite a good performance, lasting for around 7 hours or so, the longevity isn’t nearly as good as Eros.

So, when it comes to longevity and projection, Eros is clearly much more potent and a better performer than Dylan Blue.

Compliment Factor

We all enjoy receiving praise for how nice we smell, so comparing the compliment factor makes sense.

Because they both have excellent projection and sillage, they will capture the attention of as many people as possible. The compliment factor, on the other hand, may differ between the two perfumes.

Because the fragrance of Eros is strong and sometimes overpowering, it might make some individuals feel uncomfortable when they enter the room.

On the other hand, Dylan Blue is much less invasive but still fairly powerful.

According to my observations, people prefer the scent of the legendary Eros and wearing this perfume results in more praise.

As a result, Eros will garner you more compliments than Dylan Blue.

Hence, I would say that Eros is the better choice for more compliments.

Versatility

Both perfumes are quite versatile. They are mostly suitable for summer, spring and fall.

However, because Eros is so powerful, it has its time and place. I would wear it at work but restrict myself to one spritz.

It is more of a nighttime powerhouse than a simple perfume. In addition, I like it in the cold to mild temperatures since I believe it becomes dirty in hot weather.

Conversely, Dylan Blue is one of those perfumes that can be worn at any time of the year without any hassles. It smells great in both formal and informal settings and can still hold its own in the club scene.

Now, which one is more versatile?

I would say that Dylan Blue is much superior in terms of versatility since it can be used on more occasions than Eros.

Value For Money

It is no secret that Versace perfumes are not the easiest on the wallet, and these two are no exceptions. For a fair comparison, I am comparing their prices directly from the Versace official website.

For Eros, the Eau de Toilette is available in two sizes. The price of 100 ml is $96, and 200 ml is $130.

On the other hand, Dylan Blue is available in three sizes. The price of 50 ml is $75, 100 ml is $96, and 200 ml is $130.

As you can tell, the prices of the perfumes are the same. So, whichever one you get, you are essentially getting an amazing fragrance for a slightly pricey but somewhat reasonable price (if you consider the brand!).

Hence, both Versace Eros and Dylan Blue offer the same value for the price.

Overall Scent

Now, I’ll tell you which one has a more impressive overall scent.

Dylan Blue has a really good starting act, but it quickly develops into a scent heavy on ambroxan and without individuality. The fig, mild pepper, and citrus top are the elements that provide me the most pleasure and represent the pinnacle of its creative potential.

It has a good aroma, but it’s not very distinctive, and it smells like a combination of a few different well-known perfumes or colognes.

To clarify, this does not imply that it is terrible or that you would not enjoy it; rather, in my opinion, it is not very remarkable.

On the flip side, Versace Eros has an impressive starting, followed by an equally impressive development and performance. It is massively popular, and not without any reason.

The scent is absolutely brilliant, with the right portion of each accord playing out beautifully to develop a lasting effect.

So, which one has a better overall scent?

Overall, Eros is the clear winner, with an insanely successful fragrance loved by many. Even though Dylan Blue is a great scent, it certainly cannot live up to the hype for Eros.

Final Verdict

Versace Eros and Dylan Blue are two great fragrances by Versace.

Are they must-haves?

I would say that between the two, Eros is much more iconic and one that you should have if you are an avid perfume lover like me.

Moreover, when comparing their opening, development, performance and overall scent, it is quite evident that Eros is superior to Blue.

So, which one are you going to pick? Let me know if you want me to write an article covering the dupes or alternatives of these Versace fragrances.
