Clash Of Scents: Versace Eros Vs Bleu De Chanel

Bleu de Chanel

Main Notes: Grapefruit, Lemon, Mint, Pink Pepper, Ginger, Cedar, Sandalwood

This woody aromatic scent arrived in the perfumery industry in 2010.

The nose behind this legendary fragrance is Jacques Polge, who is renowned for creating iconic perfumes with his brilliant expertise &  working with prestigious brands.

And one thing you should know is that Bleu de Chanel is the last creation by Jacques Polge, which smells vibrant, energizing, and very opulent.

It feels like the perfumer has grabbed the most refreshing & buoyant elements from nature and crafted an outstanding blend that is able to please everyone.bleu-de-chanel

This timeless fragrance holds a premium kind of status, and you can wear it on any occasion. It will not only work as a confidence booster but also as a compliment-grabber.

Versace Eros

Main Notes: Mint, Green Apple, Lemon, Tonka Bean, Madagascar Vanilla, Cedar

The mastermind behind this erotic male fragrance is Aurelien Guichard, which was launched by Versace in 2012.

I would describe Versace Eros as an aromatic fougere cologne that smells fresh, loud, & alluring with a bit of creamy sweetness.

It comes in three main categories: EDT, EDP, and Parfum. Among these variations, Versace Eros EDT is more favorable than EDP and Parfum. Because it is ahead in terms of freshness, brightness, projection, and value for the money.versace-eros

Hence, most people love this version for their daily purposes. Considering this case, I will compare the Eau de Toilette version of Eros & Bleu De Chanel.

So, here is a thorough comparison between Versace Eros EDT & Bleu de Chanel:

Opening

The top of Bleu De Chanel includes juicy grapefruit, a squeeze of lemon, refreshing mint leaves, and a sprinkle of pink pepper.

Surprisingly, I can sniff all of these notes at the opening. Soon after the spray, a strong burst of lemon and mint tickles my nose.

It is very fresh, green, and citrusy. Just like, you’ve been served a strong-flavored mint lemon tea or lemonade, which is garnished with mint. The invigorating essence of grapes adds an appealing tone to the fragrance.

Moreover, the warm spicy flavor of pink pepper & ginger makes the overall smell more potent and a bit pungent.

Truly speaking, it is a very nice combination of citruses and spices.

The opening of Versace Eros also has a similar tone to Bleu de Chanel. Here the main role players are mint oil, Italian lemon, and green apple.

Besides, the fresh spicy, and herbaceous smell of tonka bean appears to add a masculine vibe to the fragrance.

In my perspective, Versace Eros is bright, buoyant, green, and youthful at the outset. The aura is just cheerful and mood uplifting.

However, Bleu De Chanel is the winner in this phase. Because it is relatively sharp and citrusy with enough spicy freshness and appeal.

Projection & Longevity

The aroma of Bleu De Chanel greatly satisfies me, but I’m totally disappointed with how it projects.

I get only 2 feet of projection, which usually vanishes within two hours. And I really don’t expect this level of performance from such a well-known & best-selling fragrance. However, I applied it to my pulse points following the proper ways & didn’t rub the perfume at all.

The longevity and sillage are moderate. On my skin, the fantastic aroma of BDC stays for 9 hours without reapplication & over-spraying.

Contrarily, Versace Eros projects in a great way. It has a louder projection that can fill a room for the first 4 hours.

The longevity is also 9 to 12 hours on average. So, I prefer Versace Eros when I have to work outside or travel for more than half of a day.

When it is about longer staying or strong projection, Versace Eros has the upper hand.

Compliment Factor

Bleu de Chanel is a blind buy for getting compliments. Its mellow scent charms people and brings flattering words to the wearer.

Moreover, it suits any outfit and occasion. Whether you go out with friends in jeans and a t-shirt or attend a wedding ceremony in a suit and tie, wear BDC to impress others and earn compliments.

However, due to the massive popularity, it’s now considered a basic scent by many.

So, the chances of anyone walking around asking for the name of your fragrance are slim.

On the other hand, the vanilla mint blend of Versace Eros is also entrancing to people of all ages. But when I did a survey on Eros & BDC, I noticed that Eros garners fewer compliments, but Bleu De Chanel is mass appealing. Actually, this matter entirely depends on the audience. So, you may have a different experience.

But according to my testing, Bleu De Chanel gets the job done when it’s about a higher compliment factor.

Versatility

Bleu de Chanel is an all-rounder cologne that you can use anywhere, anytime, with any type of outfit.

This elegant cologne is a great choice for dinner dates, parties, business meetings, workplaces, and formal environments.

Many people skip BDC for winter events and casual gatherings. But honestly speaking, this is extremely versatile. Hence, whenever you’re puzzled about which fragrance to wear, just go for this without a second thought.

Eros EDT is also an all year round scent. However, it suits more on spring and winter nights rather than hot summer days. Because it includes a sweet-ambery and warm tone along with a fresh-greenish vibe.

If you want to feel vibrant and enticing on your weekend trips, night outs, or in the club, Eros is one of the perfect choices. Apart from casual activities, it suits nicely for official purposes.

So, BDC and Versace Eros are equally versatile. They are suitable for any occasion & age.

Value For Money

Three sizes are available for BDC Eau De Toilette: 50ml, 100ml and 150 ml. Their price is $96, $120, and $156.

Considering the brand value and stunning smell of Bleu De Chanel, this price range is absolutely justified.

Eros EDT also comes in three different sizes. To buy this great aromatic bouquet, you have to spend $75, $96, and $130 for 50 ml, 100 ml, and 200 ml flacon, respectively.

BDC’s price is okay; however, it is somewhat more expensive than Eros. And considering the overall performance, Versace Eros holds good value for the money, and so it is the proud winner.

Overall Scent

I really do enjoy the opening of BDC and Eros. But what about their other stages, including core and dry-down?

For now, let’s explore those phases.

The core of Bleu De Chanel consists of Ginger, Nutmeg, Jasmine, and Iso E Super. But that doesn’t mean that you will only get these ingredients’ smell.

To my nose, the heart unleashes a warm spicy, aromatic, and woody flavor. Indeed, this layer inherits such an astonishing smell where spicy, woody, ambery, and a remarkable hint of citruses are included.

The cologne settles down in a woody, smoky, and musky base. It is attractive and sensual but not so deep that girls will jump on you.

Rather, it holds a gentle, confident, and handsome masculine type vibe, where girls throw good compliments.

On the contrary, the heart of Eros is encompassed with tonka bean, Venezuelan ambroxan & geranium blossoms. It elicits a warm, spicy, sweet floral, and ambery aura. A romantic and loving aroma starts to linger in the air from this layer.

Besides, the crispy & energizing tone of the beginning still persists at this phase.

When it reaches the dry down, the romanticism is enhanced. Here cedar and vanilla develop an exotic aura that represents love and deep sensuality.

But considering the versatile nature, high-quality ingredients, and well-balanced notes of Bleu De Chanel, it is an admirable one from my point of view.

Final Verdict

Bleu de Chanel is more polished for wearing on a regular basis, it has no overpowering scent. It is excellent in all aspects except for the projection. In that case, you should use 5 sprays for staying delightful throughout the day.

I just love the smell of BDC, and I’m sure you will too! From my perspective, it’s a winner for sure.

However, if you’re looking for a rocking fragrance for clubbing, Versace Eros is the striking one. It is enjoyable with outstanding projection.
