Fragrances Similar To Akro Awake [Dupes to Try in 2024]

Written By Easmin Akter

Akro’s Awake was my signature scent for the whole winter last year. Its delicious, gourmand coffee flavor never fails to amaze me.

I still adore it, but this year, I wanted to grab Awake dupes that are smoother and furnished with more unique elements.

After months of research, I finally sorted out some fragrances that turned out great at exuding a similar smell to Awake.fragrances-similar-to-akro-awake

So, don’t miss out on the alternatives, and let’s get going!

What Does Akro Awake Smell Like?

Awake by Akro has the evocative smell of freshly roasted, hot, and intense coffee beans along with the spicy, green, tart edge of cardamom. The warmth of black coffee flavor gets some citrusy bite from Italian lemon before settling into a burnt, earthy, woody base.

The fineness and superior quality of Awake come from the following elements:

Notes: Santos Coffee, Cardamom, Italian Lemon, and Haitian Vetiver

At the first sniff, it smells exactly like freshly roasted coffee beans, more like the bitter, gourmand aroma you pick after opening a bag of Brazilian coffee powder.

The blend somewhat livens up with the warm, spicy pinch of cardamom in the background. Lemon isn’t prominent here, but still makes the fragrance more appealing by adding its sparkling quality.

This nutty gourmand coffee perfume then dries up, bringing in the heart-warming earthiness of vetiver.

It projects heavily for about 2 hours before turning into an intimate scent that lasts the whole day.

Though Awake is one of my favorite coffee fragrances for the fall, I sometimes get bored and miss the softness of contemporary coffee blends. This led me to look for its creamier dupes that I’ll be covering in the next segment.

What Fragrances Smell Similar To Akro Awake?

With Olivier Cresp’s artful composition, Awake is probably one of the best coffee fragrances on the market.

It smells amazingly realistic, but at the same time, not that unique. Because, from affordable to luxurious, I’ve smelled many fragrances that resemble this hyped Akro scent.

So, I compiled them together and made a list of alternatives.

Here are my top-picked substitutes for Awake by Akro:

1. Awake Eau De Parfum By AndromedasMoon

awake-eau-de-parfum-by-andromedasmoon

Notes: Cardamom, Coffee, Haitian Vetiver, and Italian Lemon

I know many of you love Awake but couldn’t buy it because of its high price point. If you’re one of them, this alternative can be the best way to enjoy Awake’s alluring aroma without losing a fortune.

AndromedasMoon’s representation of Awake Eau De Parfum deserves applause. I’ve rarely found clones that smell almost 90% similar to the original, and this is one of them.

From the invigorating roasted coffee bean flavor to cardamom’s warm spiciness, this replica has perfectly captured the Awake DNA.

This one is only slightly lower in quality and smells a bit sharper in the opening. Other than that, this Awake clone will give you an identical evocative, spicy coffee aroma grounded with the earthy woodiness of vetiver.

When To Wear

This fragrance beautifully exerts the warm, cozy vibe that you need on a cold, snowy day. So, wear it on your casual or formal activities during the fall or winter.

Why Should You Buy

  • Budget-friendly.
  • Lasts longer than the OG.
  • Versatile and gender-neutral aroma.
  • You’ll get plenty of compliments wearing it.
  • Great projection ability.

2. Coffee Addict Theodoros Kalotinis

coffee-addict-theodoros-kalotinis

Notes: Coffee, Caramel, Vanilla, and Cacao Pod

Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis is such a fragrance that takes the natural smoky, cozy vibe of Awake and adds the right amount of creamy sweetness of vanilla.

If you are not really a fan of citrusy, caffeine blends, Coffee Addict is the one Awake dupe you need.

After sniffing this Theodoros Kalotinis formulation for the first time, I could only think of the caramel chocolate latte I recently had in an Italian café.

Vanilla adds the perfect touch of creaminess to it without giving it a milky texture. I could also get a spicy, gourmand texture when the fragrance was still growing on my skin.

After an hour or so, it settles, turning into an intense, smooth, and very delicious vanillic coffee aroma, which for a really long time.

Plus, the projection of this perfume is also commendable.

Simply put, Coffee Addict can be a perfect cost-effective option for those who adore sweet coffee aromas without any spicy, tangy hint.

When To Wear

The cozy, gourmand tone that this fragrance offers completely vibes with the casual, lazy days during the winter or fall. Other than that, you can also wear this gorgeous scent before going to work or coffee dates.

Why Should You Buy

  • 10 hours plus longevity.
  • Soothing and addictive aroma.
  • Suitable for both men and women.
  • Perfectly goes with all kinds of occasions.
  • Gets compliments.

3. Sambaka Pierre Guillaume Paris

Notes: Roasted Coffee Beans, Cardamom, Coffee Tree, Ginger, and Brazilian Orange

I smelled Pierre Guillaume Paris’s Sambaka on My friend (who also happens to be a coffee addict) over the whole autumn. From the first sniff, I could tell it was inspired by Awake.

To be more sure, I bought a full bottle and tried it on myself. The opening of Sambaka also evokes the freshly roasted coffee bean vibe with the sensual, spicy touch of cardamom.

However, what really surprised me was its way of evolution. While Awake stays linear from top to base, this fragrance matures into a soft, woody, creamy aroma.

Along the way, I could also sense some fizzy ginger, citrusy orange, and green coffee tree nuance. All together, Sambaka gives off a feeling of completion that I somewhat missed in the OG.

So, other than the realistic roasted coffee essence, if you also need some soft, mature, woody sensation in a scent, grab this alternative.

When To Wear

Sambaka develops and smells the best in the fall and winter. However, I’ve worn it as my signature springtime scent, which got me many compliments. So, you can say it works for spring, too.

Why Should You Buy

  • Great value for the money.
  • Lasts over 8 hours on the skin.
  • Versatile and seductive.
  • Praiseworthy formulation.
  • Top-notch quality.

4. Intoxicated By Kilian

intoxicated-by-kilian

Notes: Cardamom, Coffee, Nutmeg, and Cinnamon

I consider Intoxicated by Kilian as a spicier swap for Akro’s Awake. Launched in 2014, this one is another refined and pleasing formulation by Calice Becker.

It opens with a sharp, spicy blend of cardamom, nutmeg, and cinnamon. To be honest, the opening isn’t something I admire, but I truly love the way it develops.

The first 15 to 20 minutes of it may give you a striking feel, but soon, it mellows down, and then, you’ll get to feel a creamy, addictive coffee aroma.

With cinnamon and cardamom in the background, this cologne reminds me of Turkish Coffee.

Then comes the coffee-vanilla-based dry-down, which will amuse you for the whole day with its subtle, sweet, and intensely creamy qualities.

When To Wear

Intoxicated By Kilian is a gourmand, warm, spicy beast. So, I recommend wearing this cologne casually to special events on the autumn and winter days only.

Why Should You Buy

  • Natural-smelling coffee accords.
  • Intense spicy tone.
  • Prominent presence of cardamom.
  • Perfect balance of sweetness.
  • More than 12 hours of longevity.
  • Room-filling projection.
  • Mass-appealing aroma.

5. Follow Kerosene

follow-kerosene

Notes: Roasted Coffee Beans and Maple Sap

Middle Notes: Vanilla and Tonka Bean

Base Notes: Amber and Benzoin

Composed by John Pegg, Follow from the House of Kerosene is an underrated gem that I own. If you like gourmand black coffee with the perfect hint of sweetness, you can never say no to this gorgeous fragrance.

At the first whiff, it gives off the vibe of drip coffee that has been sweetened with maple syrup.

Having vanilla mixed with the nutty, smoky smell of tonka bean, the core exerts a blissful and extremely addictive aura.

Gradually, it settles into a warm, ambery base while retaining its delicious coffee aroma. Benzoin adds a cozy, musky vibe that I feel throughout its 10 hours of life.

Even though I like this cologne, its linear aroma may not live up to your expectations. Plus, being a niche scent, Follow carries a hefty price tag.

So, it is not really something to blind buy. You better try out a decant before purchasing the whole bottle.

When To Wear

The warming coffee aroma of Follow can complete your soothing persona on the freezing days of winter or late fall. It works great both as a day or nighttime scent. But due to its dense, cozy nature, I won’t recommend over spraying unless you’re going to a party.

Why Should You Buy

  • High-end quality.
  • Excellent longevity.
  • Premium Awake
  • Gives off a comforting and rich vibe.
  • Can be a perfect gift for your coffee-loving friends.

6. Durocaffe’ Bois 1920

durocaffe-bois-1920

Top Notes: Coffee and Sugar

Middle Notes: Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, and Damask Rose

Base Notes: Amber and Patchouli

Durocaffe’ is one of the most complimented niche possessions. This fragrance from the prestige collection of Bois 1920 was launched in 2022.

This is like a super premium alternate option for Akro’s Awake. So, only go for it if you like to collect scents or don’t really have any budget issues.

The formulation is fabulously done by Cristian Calabro. You’ll also feel the same the moment you sniff it. Not only the elements but each aromatic transition of Durocaffe’ exerts sophistication and fineness.

It begins presenting a sweet, caffeine-filled aura that will give you the feel of having a rich espresso coffee with expensive chocolate.

As time goes by, the sweet, dark creaminess of rose and vanilla add up, making the aroma deliciously gourmand and utterly elegant.

Finally, it dries down into a woody, slightly earthy, and very warm base. Amber and patchouli add some lingering quality to the perfume by helping it last over 12 hours.

Besides, you’ll get an enormous projection and sillage from it.

When To Wear

Durocaffe’ has an intensely cozy nature that smells the best in chilling winter and fall. So, wear it whenever necessary to impose an elegant yet strong impression on everyone at a dressy party or special gathering.

Why Should You Buy

  • Master-class presentation and quality.
  • Suitable for colder days.
  • Satisfactory performance.
  • Both men and women can flaunt it.
  • Best for dressy and formal occasions.
  • Works like a compliment magnet.
