So, I can confidently say that La Nuit de l’homme has the most captivating opening of the two.

When choosing one fragrance among two, their lasting power and spreading capability are features you must check properly.
La Nuit de l’homme comes with a gentle projection that will make your presence known up to your 3 to 4 feet distance, and its longevity is moderate.
This means with a one-time application, you will get up to 6 hours of undivided service. For better performance, you need to reapply. The same goes for The One Eau de Parfum, which lasts around 5 to 6 hours, but its projection becomes lighter halfway through.
So, it’s a tie between La Nuit de l’homme and D&G The One EDP when it comes to their performance.
Compliment Factor
Another important fact about my brother is his colognes have to draw attention. Otherwise, he won’t even touch the scent. It’s not the case for me, but as I was getting a fragrance for him, I had to check the complement factors.

This mass-appealing fragrance is the ideal fit for winter and fall night parties or events. That’s not the end. It’s also wearable during the bright spring days. Anyway, avoid wearing it in the summer as it can feel cloying in the warmer seasons.
Meanwhile, The One by D&G is also a winter and autumn-appropriate cologne. And at night, it flourishes to its fullest. Additionally, you can wear it during the spring but not in the summer.
So, both The One by D&G and La Nuit de l’homme are equally versatile colognes, as they both are effective in the same seasons.
Value For Money
Designer brands like YSL and Dolce&Gabbana will charge you quite a handsome amount of money for their fragrances. So, it’s wise to study their price ranges before purchasing.
La Nuit de l’homme is available in three bottle sizes. These woody fragrances’ 60 ml flacon costs around $89, a 100 ml is up to $108, and its largest 200 ml will cost you 164 dollars.
Conversely, D&G The One EDP comes in two sizes. Its 50 ml bottle costs 47 dollars, and a $100 ml flacon is around $109. These prices are not permanent. You can get them at way cheaper prices on different offers.
So, you can see that in terms of price value, The One EDP and La Nuit de l’homme by YSL are pretty close. With that being said, it’s a tie in the price range.
Overall Scent
Without trying a cologne, it’s not quite possible to understand its overall note formulation. It’s crucial to check, as the dry down can massively differ from the top and middle.
YSL La Nuit de l’homme has the mysterious spicy, woody, and crispy cardamom in the beginning, which turns fresh, woody, and powdery as lavender tunes with the softness of cedar and citrusy bergamot at the core.
The base incorporates the clean, ethereal smell of vetiver with the sharp, spicy hunch of caraway, and it felt very unique and sparkling after a couple of hours on my skin.
On the flip side, Dolce & Gabbana’s The One Eau de Parfum opens with a spicy, herbal, and fruity composition.
Over time, I smelled the zesty, peppery tone that comes from the blending of cardamom with ginger. Though both have a sharp aura, orange blossom’s sweet, alluring smell creates a balance in the middle.
Finally, in the base, Olivier Polge mingled the soft, sensual ambiance of amber and cedar with the rich smoky tone of tobacco.
Now, the question is, which of these colognes provides a better overall scent?
In my opinion, YSL La Nuit de l’homme has the upper hand as its overall composition turns charming and sophisticated step by step.
