As this fragrance was an updated version of the original, the designer tried to give it a modern touch by layering a divine peony aroma with some spicy and fruity accords.
Well, she was successful in doing so, as people were in love with this beautiful combination and still are.
But, sadly, it was a limited release from the brand, and after a few years, Gucci Envy Me eventually got discontinued. Yet, much like the original one, you can get other perfumes that smell similar to Gucci Envy Me.
Well, there’s no doubt that both of these two Gucci Envy versions smell lovely and are very classic in their composition.

The opening is the first thing you notice after spraying any fragrance, so it can be an indicating factor to love or hate the scent entirely.
So, let’s see which one among these two iconic Gucci perfumes has a more impressive opening.
When you first spray Gucci Envy, a fresh floral aroma blended with the juiciness of pineapple will greet your nose. Almost immediately, a tangy bergamot smell adds up, making the aroma more lively and refreshing.
You’ll also pick some greens in the background. I personally love the opening as it’s sweet, fresh, slightly powdery, and instantly freshens up your mood.
On the other hand, Gucci Envy Me opens up with a strong peony aroma that stays on throughout the fragrance.
Within moments, a fresh pineapple aroma, along with the pink pepper, adds a juicy, spicy kick to the floral opening. There’s also a bit of greenness here, but it stays very subtle. To my nose, the opening aroma felt a bit metallic, which I’m not so fond of.
So, in my opinion, Gucci Envy has a better opening, as other than being too fruity or floral, it is perfectly balanced with citrusy and green notes.
Projection And Longevity
None of the Gucci Envy versions can be referred to as a strong or long-lasting fragrance.
from what I can tell, they were quite the same in terms of projection and sillage. Both fragrance project well enough to get you noticed by the people around you, but it’s not like enormous or something.
Well, when it comes to longevity, Gucci Envy easily lasted on my skin for around 6-8 hours.
But it was a bit different for Gucci Envy Me, as this flanker lasts on the skin for 5 hours top.
So, without a doubt, Gucci Envy is a clear winner in terms of longevity and projection.
Compliment Factor
Being the first of the Envy lineup, Gucci Envy is pretty well-known for its impressive smell and composition.
Also, it projects quite well to get you some attention. I always get some pretty compliments whenever people smell this sweet and pleasant Gucci Envy aroma on me.
The same goes for Gucci Envy Me as well. Much like the original, this fragrance also garners compliments from the people around you. Yet, some find its peon aroma too strong or cloying.
So, if compared, I would say Gucci Envy gets a bit more compliments for smelling so good on the skin.
Versatility
The lively, fresh floral aroma of Gucci Envy screams for soft, calming days of spring. The balanced citrusy green opening makes it wearable in the summertime as well, but it never goes well in cold weather.
It is a perfect perfume to wear as your everyday fragrance or for casual events. I love to smell this fragrance on me while having a day out with my friends.
And now, to talk about Envy Me’s versatility, it also pulls off successfully on warm spring or summer days. You can wear this in any kind of casual event where you wanna smell nice and decent.
So, in my opinion, both Gucci Envy and Envy Me are equally versatile to wear in different seasons and occasions.
Value For Money
Well, you can’t find any of these two Envy fragrances on the official Gucci website, as they were discontinued years ago.
Yet you can find them on a few retail websites. So, they vary in price depending on the website or retailer.
A 100ml bottle of Gucci Envy may cost you around $300 or sometimes even more. That means it’s quite expensive.
And considering the high price, the longevity that this perfume offers is not that good. Although the overall aroma and projection are quite good, as an expensive designer fragrance, it should’ve lasted longer.
Conversely, Gucci Envy Me is way more affordable in comparison to the price of the original Envy. You can get a 100ml bottle of this lovely fragrance at a price range of $84 to $180.
And given the price, the smell, projection, and longevity that this designer perfume offers is very admirable.
Hence, undoubtedly I’ll say Gucci Envy Me offers greater value for money.
Overall Scent
Now, let’s find out which one has a better overall scent profile.
Gucci Envy has a good start with a citrusy, floral aroma in the opening. As the fragrance progresses, it gets more intense and sharper with a bunch of floral notes in the heart.
The core of this perfume is very aromatic, fresh, a bit earthy, and very lovely to smell. You’ll get this sweet floral aroma in the dry down as well. But soon, it gets a perfect closing with the mossy, woody, and green base notes.
Overall, Gucci Envy is nothing but a pleasant combination of sweet floral and fresh green notes that you can’t just get enough of.
Gucci Envy Me, on the other hand, reveals its potent peony aroma right from the start. And it gets stronger in the heart where a bunch of fruity and green notes add up, complementing the sweet peony flavor.
The musky, smoky base notes are not that prominent here. Rather, they just sit in the background giving a sensual touch to the composition.
This fragrance is perfect for people who love sweet fragrances with bold floral notes. But I didn’t find it that much appealing, as to me, it seems too bold sometimes.
Hence, to my nose, Gucci Envy is the absolute winner when it comes to the overall scent.
Final Verdict
Gucci Envy and Envy Me are like blessings for floral fruity fragrance lovers. That makes it harder to put one over another between these two gems.
However, I personally like the perfectly balanced Gucci Envy aroma more, so for me, it’s a winner for sure. And this fragrance’s longevity is more than all of its other successors like Envy Me.
The only downside of this perfume is its expensive price. But if money isn’t an issue for you, I’ll always encourage you to go with this one.
Conversely, Envy Me is quite affordable, with a beautiful aroma and decent performance. So, if you’re cut on budget but wanna smell so good to make others envious of you, go for this flanker.
