What Does Jake Hollister Smell Like?

Jake by Hollister is a very simple and easy-to-wear men’s cologne. There are not many dimensions to this scent, but there’s no denying the fact that it smells very pleasant.

The main detectable notes in this cologne are citrus and woody notes. The starting is pleasantly bright with a fruity touch of citruses.

Gradually the fragrance develops into a woody, somewhat earthy aroma.

The scent isn’t a groundbreaking invention, but it has a sense of mass appeal, which is responsible for the attention it gets.

It is quite affordable and has quite a flexible usability. You can wear it in summer, spring or fall, as you please.

Even though it is a daytime fragrance, you can also wear it to casual occasions during the evening if you’d like.

The performance of Jake is not bad, not too good either. It lasts around 3 to 4 hours, so you have to keep reapplying it, and the sillage is good at the beginning but goes downhill before long.

Destination Grand Canyon by Avon

Avon Destination Grand Canyon

Top Notes: Grapefruit

Middle Notes: Floral Notes

The first cologne on the list is Destination Grand Canyon by Avon. Avon is known to produce affordable fragrances with a great overall scent that usually replicates the aroma of other well-known designer fragrances.

Destination Grand Canyon, released in 2015 by Avon, has a very similar scent profile to Hollister Jake. It has a woody base that can be felt throughout the lifetime of the scent.

Like Jake, Destination Grand Canyon opens with bright citrus notes and develops well to create a floral blend.

It isn’t an extraordinary cologne, but the aroma is fresh, cozy and quite wearable.

The performance is quite commendable, given the price of the cologne, and if you are on a budget, I would highly recommend getting your hands on this one.

When to Wear

Destination Grand Canyon by Avon can be worn all year round and throughout the day. But if you ask me, I’d say it works best during the warmer seasons, particularly in the daytime. It is great for casual wear and outdoor activities.

It doesn’t last for very long, but you can always keep reapplying it, given its cheap price.

However, Mankind Hero is much more complex and layered. The notes in this cologne are much richer and have detectable dimensions.

The opening is refreshing with bright lemon and coriander – you get a touch of spiciness that makes it quite pleasant.

The heart of the cologne has a sweetness and creaminess brought across by vanilla, plum wood and lavender.

Top Notes: Bamboo Leaf, Green Apple, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange

Middle Notes: Litchi, Lavender, Violet and Sage

Base Notes: Cedar, Spices, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Amber and Vetiver

Curve Soul for Men by Liz Claiborne is another cologne that I think sits right on this list. It is refreshing, aromatic, and has a woody undertone that makes it similar to Jake Hollister.

Created by Jean-Marc Chaillan and Loc Dong, this scent is highly layered with a blend of some interesting notes put together.

The beginning of this fragrance is much sweeter because a sweet green apple accompanies it along with the citrus that is common for the colognes on the list.

The core of the scent has pleasant floral notes along with violet and sage.

The closing notes in this cologne create a warm and cozy aftermath. The cedar, oak moss, amber, sandalwood and vetiver work really well together. The addition of spices brings a flavorful aroma to the cologne.

Even though it is not exactly like Jake, it has a similar foundation with a much more developed scent profile.

The projection and sillage of this cologne are quite average, but you can get this at a great price and make great use of it.

Top Notes: Orange, Lemon, Bergamot and Cardamom

Middle Notes: Herbal Notes, Ylang-Ylang and Atlas Cedar

Base Notes: White Musk, Vetiver and Woody Notes

Last but not the least, we have White Intense by Lomani, which is a cologne quite close to Jake Hollister because it has the same aromatic, woody fragrance.

However, it has a lot more notes and layers to the scent.

White Intense is a masculine aromatic scent that opens just like the others on this list – with bright citruses. A pleasant bergamot in this cologne spruces up the beginning even more.

The floral heart has a pleasant creamy aroma that the ylang-ylang and cedar bring. The herbal notes bring in an interesting earthy touch to the scent.

The base notes are again reminiscent of Jake and have warm woody notes along with some musk and vetiver.
