Green Irish Tweed and Aventus are two renowned Creed perfumes for men who seek a cologne that stands out and exudes a sense of presence.

Since they are both green fragrances from the same brand, choosing between them may become quite confusing. Even though they have some similarities, Aventus is more assertive, while Green Irish Tweed is much lighter.

So, which one is the better choice between these two? Keep reading as I discuss and compare the ins and outs of Creed Aventus and Green Irish Tweed in this article.

Clash of Scents: Aventus Vs. Green Irish Tweed

Aventus

Launched in 2010, Aventus was curated by Jean-Christophe Hérault and Erwin Creed. It is a chypre, fruity fragrance for men.

aventus

It is a fruity blast that is combined with oak moss and musk to ground the scent. Aventus is a pretty intense scent that is not for the light-hearted. Overall, it’s a mature and noticeably sharp fragrance.

Green Irish Tweed

Main Notes: Lemon Verbena, iris, Violet Leaf, Ambergris and Sandalwood

Launched in 1985, Green Irish Tweed was created by Olivier Creed and Pierre Bourdon. It is a floral, woody, musky fragrance for men and one of the signature scents from the brand.

It has a very “green” aroma, you will get a mossy and grassy aroma. It is an iconic scent and has generated many dupes over the years.

But which option is the best option between Creed Aventus and Green Irish Tweed? To get you the best answer, I have dug deep and listed a full comparison between these two perfumes.

Here is a detailed comparison between Aventus and Green Irish Tweed:

Opening

At the very beginning, a crisp blend of pineapple and black currant introduces Aventus. It feels harsh, dry and overwhelming. Although they aren’t very pronounced, I can still detect the presence of citrus and apple notes.

Even though Aventus starts off rather strong, as the aroma fades, it becomes more pleasant.

The intensity of the fruity notes lessens as the birch and oak moss blend together. It becomes much more reasonable and balanced as a result.

On the other hand, the initial scent of Green Irish Tweed is quite earthy and mossy. The violet leaf and lemon verbena are very distinct in the opening, along with other varying scents.

Although the opening of this scent also doesn’t seem much appealing to me, it improves greatly as the scent develops.

As the fragrance dries down, the earthy violet leaf start, but I find that Green Irish Tweed is better as it turns more citrusy than Aventus.

So, between them, which one has a better opening?

I think Green Irish Tweed has a better opening than Aventus, as it is much less overwhelming than the latter and has a smoother blend as the fragrance dries down.

Projection and Longevity

Creed perfumes are known for their excellent performance in terms of projection and longevity, and these two fragrances are no exception.

Both Aventus and Green Irish Tweed project well and have good sillage. Even though they might not be as strong as many other perfumes by the brand, they are great nonetheless.

When comparing the projection between the two, I noticed that Aventus has a slightly stronger sillage since it is very potent. I can simply apply two pumps, and the projection will be top-notch.

On the other hand, they are both excellent when it comes to longevity. Both Aventus and Green Irish Tweed last around 9 to 10 hours on my skin.

In fact, they are much more durable than many other men’s scents when it comes to humid, hot weather and last much longer.

So, to be honest, when comparing their longevity, there is no real winner as they are both equally great.

So, when it comes to projection, Aventus has the upper hand, but they are both equally good in the case of longevity.

Compliment Factor

We all love getting compliments on how good we smell, so comparing the compliment factor is only wise.

Since both have great projection and sillage, they will grab as many people’s attention as possible. However, the compliment factor may vary between the two fragrances.

Since the smell of Aventus is very potent and may seem a bit overbearing, it tends to feel harsh to some people when you walk into the room. On the other hand, Green Irish Tweed is much less intrusive but still quite strong.

From what I have noticed, people tend to like the smell of the iconic Green Irish Tweed more, and you get more compliments from wearing this perfume.

Hence, between the two, Green Irish Tweed will get you more compliments than Aventus.

Versatility

Both these fragrances are more appropriate for spring.

However, Aventus can be worn in the spring, summer, as well as chilly winter months. The Green Irish Tweed, meanwhile, is much more of a spring scent.

You can also wear Aventus in a variety of different settings when compared to Green Irish Tweed. The latter has more restrictions than Aventus because it is not a good perfume to wear at dates, parties or formal events.

Moreover, in contrast to Green Irish Tweed, Aventus has a more mature air and hence, more prospects of being worn to formal events.

You can wear Green Irish Tweed if you want to feel good about yourself. However, you might want to put on the Aventus if you want to make an impression.

Therefore, Aventus is ultimately more versatile than Green Irish Tweed.

Value For Money

If I am being honest, I would say that none of these two perfumes provide great value for money as they are both very, very expensive.

It is no secret that Creed perfumes are tough on the wallet, and these two are no exceptions.

Both Aventus and Green Irish Tweed are available in four sizes. Below I have discussed their prices.

For Aventus, the price of 50 ml is $365, 100 ml is $495, 250 ml is $775, and 500 ml is $1,260.

On the other hand, for Green Irish Tweed, the price of 50 ml is $345, 100 ml is $470, 250 ml is $755, and 500 ml is $1,205.

As you can see, both of them are massively expensive, and the difference in price isn’t too much, but Green Irish Tweed is very minutely less expensive than Aventus.

So, when talking about value for money, I would say that none of these fragrances provide a good value for money. But if I must pick, I would say that Green Irish Tweed offers very slightly better value for money between the two.

Overall Scent

When it comes to overall scent, both of these perfumes impart a similar style – they are both green fragrances.

While Aventus has dominating notes of pineapple, bergamot, and black currant at the beginning, the birch is also noticeable. As the scent dries down, it becomes much more tolerable.

The woodsy notes become more prominent and combined with the Musk, oak moss, and Ambergris, the scent settles down.

On the other hand, Green Irish Tweed has a much less intense opening, and the dry down and presence of ambergris and sandalwood make it much more soothing. It is very earthy, grassy and mossy.

While Aventus is a strong fruity scent, I think the overall scent of Green Irish Tweed is much better.

So, when it comes to overall scent, to me, Green Irish Tweed is the winner between the two.

Final Verdict

Creed Aventus and Green Irish Tweed are both famous fragrances by the brand, and they are great options if you are into earthy scents. While Aventus is more fruity, Green Irish Tweed is more grassy.

Are they must-have fragrances? I don’t think so. But if you like their styles, you can surely try them.

Between the two, I would recommend going for Green Irish Tweed as the opening and overall scent of this one is more appealing to me.

But Aventus has somewhat better longevity and versatility, so if you like a fruity punch, you can try it.

However, I would highly recommend going for samples or mini sizes of these perfumes before buying the full-size bottles, as they are very expensive.

You can also try getting your hands on dupes of these perfumes, whichever one you like the most.

So, which one are you going to pick? Let me know if you want me to write an article covering the dupes or alternatives of these Creed fragrances.
