Written By Easmin Akter

You can’t really deny the ongoing aromatic battle between Le Male Elixir and Dior Sauvage Elixir. Going with the hype, I decided to find the superior one myself.

Well, my husband already owns Sauvage Elixir. Hence, I’m quite familiar with its offerings. To complete my task, I collected a bottle of Le Male Elixir.

Through close inspection and thorough comparison, I actually figured out all of their different traits.dior-sauvage-elixir-vs-le-male-elixir

So, wanna know who the winner is?

Then, stay till the end.

Clash Of Scents: Dior Sauvage Elixir VS Le Male Elixir

Dior Sauvage Elixir

Main Notes: Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Grapefruit, Lavender, Licorice, Sandalwood, and Amber

In 2021, Dior took the legacy of the legendary Sauvage to another level by introducing Sauvage Elixir.

In my opinion, this fragrance is by far the most unique formulation in the market. I don’t know how François Demachy did it, but he certainly gave us the classic 80s masculine vibe in a modern and sophisticated way through the amazing Sauvage Elixir.

It’s spicy, woody, clean, and always gives off the vibe of an upscale gentleman. From quality to performance, Sauvage Elixir is ten on ten.dior-sauvage-elixir

However, this fragrance is extremely expensive. But don’t get upset, as you can easily find affordable colognes smelling similar to Dior Sauvage Elixir. So, try them out whenever you’re on a limited budget.

Le Male Elixir

Main Notes: Lavender, Vanilla, Mint, Honey, Tobacco, and Tonka Bean

With a fierce and charismatic composition, Le Male Elixir by JPG came to the market in 2023. Since its release, everyone on the internet has been talking about this sexy gem; that’s how impactful its aroma is.

This one smells like honeyed lavender with the perfect touch of spicy, smoky tonka bean.

Rich, creamy vanilla ensures the seductive masculinity of this cologne never fuels out. Moreover, if you need a party beast that is sexy, masculine, and extremely appealing, Le Male Elixir will be the best pick.

My husband loves this fragrance so much that last month, he looked for colognes that are similar to Le Male Elixir Jean Paul Gaultier and bought a few of them to enrich his collection.le-male-elixir-jean-paul-gaultier

Now that you know briefly about the smelling tone of Sauvage Elixir and Le Male Elixir, it’s time to find out the superior one between these two biggest elixir formulations in the market.

Here’s the side-by-side comparison between Dior Sauvage Elixir and Le Male Elixir:

Opening

Whenever I go perfume shopping, I usually stick with the one with a better opening. The same goes for a lot of you, as the opening is what you smell first and leaves a lasting impression on your mind. So,  sometimes, it can actually dictate your buying decision.

So, let’s find out which one between Le Male Elixir and Sauvage Elixir unfolds in a better way.

At the first whiff of Le Male Elixir, I can sense the spicy, floral lavender nuance hovering around that soon gets the perfect refreshing, minty punch.

Within a few moments, it turns into a warm, sweet, honeyed, and extremely seductive aroma with vanilla and tonka bean in the background. So, the opening of Le Male Elixir is refreshing and youthful, along with all the sexy, charming qualities you can think of.

Now, let’s talk about the opening of Sauvage Elixir by Dior, which focuses more on spices. From the first sniff, it comes out as a spicy, sweet, slightly tangy, and very masculine fragrance.

Among the spices, the creamy sensuality of cardamom is quite noticeable, to which lavender adds some soft, airy, clean texture from the background.

So, Le Male Elixir and Sauvage Elixir open in a totally different way.

Personally, I think the Le Male Elixir’s opening is slightly better because of its sexier, sweeter, and more appealing approach.

Projection & Longevity

We all want fragrances that stay up for a long time and make people known of our presence whenever we enter the room. That’s why I tried both Sauvage Elixir and Le Male Elixir on myself to find out the best performer.

When it comes to projection and sillage, Dior’s Sauvage Elixir is the ultimate beast. Only one or two sprays of it are enough to fill the whole room with its invigorating aroma.

On top of that, it leaves a strong scent trail that stays on the skin for an eternity. I literally mean it. I’ve smelled this scent on my clothes even a week after applying.

On the other hand, I won’t really describe Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male Elixir as a beast performer. But this fragrance will still give you a solid 12 hours of longevity and strong projection, which is quite commendable for a designer scent. Plus, people standing within your 6 feet radius can get a whiff of its sweet, seductive scent trail.

So, even though Le Male Elixir is an impressive performer, Dior Sauvage Elixir is unbeatable in terms of projection and lasting power.

Compliment Factor

Being complimented for their choice of fragrance is a great deal for most people. So, now let’s find out which of the two scents works better in garnering praise.

Both Le Male Elixir and Sauvage Elixir are great compliment pullers, which actually justifies their massive hype and why they sell so well.

They do go about in different ways, as one is the sexy one, whereas the other is the classy one. But no matter which cologne you decide to go with, you’ll be flared with positive and sensual compliments.

So, when it’s about getting compliments, both Le Male Elixir and Sauvage Elixir do an incredible job.

Versatility

Both Le Male Elixir and Dior Sauvage Elixir have deep, warm tones that perfectly vibe with the colder months of the year. You can wear any one of these as an evening or night scent throughout the winter, fall, and early spring days.

So, season-wise, they are about the same.

However, they do differ when it comes to the occasional scenario. While Sauvage Elixir is the more formal and mature one, Le Male Elixir is the sexier of the two.

If you are hitting the nightclub, going on a date, or simply hanging out with friends, grab Le Male Elixir.

Sauvage Elixir, on the other side, is more suitable for sophisticated parties, team dinners, or any special events throughout the winter.

As none of the colognes are year-round scents yet are quite versatile in their own territory, I will say it’s a tie here.

Value For Money

Every time I decide to buy a designer scent, I never forget to figure out the value it offers against the price. Now, let’s do the same for Le Male Elixir and Dior Sauvage Elixir so that you can make an informed decision.

Well, none of them are cheap. In fact, they come with an extremely high price range, especially the Sauvage Elixir. In the retail price for this cologne, you have to pay around $180 for 60ml and $250 for a 100ml bottle.

You can save a couple of dollars if you buy it from discounters, but still, it will cost you over a 100 Dollar bill.

I must admit, Le Male Elixir is comparatively cheaper as it comes in two sizes, 60 ml and 120 ml, which cost around $114 and $145, respectively.

Here, Sauvage Elixir makes the real difference. You’ll get better performance and quality from the pricey one. And it’s okay for me to spend this much money on a scent, only a small amount of which is enough to smell gorgeous for the whole day.

So, I think despite being the more expensive one, Dior Sauvage Elixir offers greater value for the price than Le Male Elixir.

Overall Scent

After the sweet, airy, clean opening, Le Male Elixir reveals more of its cozy, gourmand quality with a heavy dose of vanilla in the core. With a hint of tobacco, it totally gives off a sexy and intriguing vibe.

Then comes the dry-down, where Le Male Elixir smells warm and amicable with the sweetness of honey. Meanwhile, tonka bean adds up, leaving a bold, masculine, and very seductive scent trail on your skin.

All in all, Le Male Elixir is great stuff. But the evolution of Sauvage Elixir is simply amazing. It starts off as a spicy, sweet, slightly woody scent, but soon it converts into a dark, mature, woody, and extremely masculine aroma.

Lavender puts some balance to the spiciness and makes a fine line between the spicy opening and woody dry-down. I really love the combination of licorice, sandalwood, patchouli, and amber in the base.

It’s smooth, sexy, classy, and has kind of a gentleman-ish vibe in it.

Well, both of them have their own charming facets to awe you.

But for me, the winner will be Sauvage Elixir, as it has more personality and texture. And its dark, mature vibe really suits my taste.

Final Verdict

Both of them are so good that finding the winner between Le Male Elixir and Sauvage Elixir was extremely tough for me.

But in the end, I think Dior Sauvage Elixir wins the battle but is definitely on the edge.

If you need an elegant and macho scent for the winter that will last for days long on you, nothing can be better than Sauvage Elixir. It offers better value and is slightly higher in quality.

But in case you wanna put on a sexy, youthful, and fierce aura for this winter, I would rather suggest you go with Le Male Elixir. This one’s a great performer and, at the same time, is more budget-friendly. So, you can’t go wrong with this cologne.
