7 Best Dior Sauvage Clones [Tested by Experts in 2021]

Which Fragrances Smell like Dior Sauvage?

The name and scent of Christian Dior Sauvage are widely recognized.

Ever since it was introduced to the world in 2015, Sauvage has just changed the game of men’s fragrances. It smells incredible and sexy. The top notes of bergamot and pepper, middle notes like pink pepper, elemi, patchouli, Sichuan pepper, vetiver, lavender, geranium, and base notes including ambroxan and cedar make a divine blend of notes.

This fragrance opens with a bright splash of bergamot and lavender. Shortly after, a peppery undertone starts to bloom. This smokey, spicy vibe is the signature of Dior Sauvage. Different types of paper add a lot of depth to the scent besides giving it a masculine vibe unlike any other fragrance in the market.

Finally, in dry-down, the strong, fresh, and charming note of Ambroxan takes Sauvage to a whole other level.

Overall, It’s a legendary fragrance that is a must for any fragrance collection. If you have the budget, you can purchase this masterpiece cologne from here. Also, there’s an EDP version of this that is stronger and performs better.

But, if you want to opt for something that doesn’t cost as much but smells like Dior Sauvage, there are many clones and alternatives in the market for you to choose from.

So, here are the best fragrances that are similar to Dior Sauvage:

Armaf Ventana Pour Homme

Armaf Ventana Pour Homme

Top notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Lime, Ginger, Violet leaf, Blackcurrant
Middle notes: Jasmine, Iris, Rose
Base notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Ambroxan, Cedar.

Armaf has mastered the game of cloning legendary fragrances, and Dior Sauvage is no different. With Armaf Ventana, they have earned my respect by flawlessly replicating the peppery- fruity essence of Sauvage.

If you want just one option for a Dior Sauvage clone, Armaf Ventana would be my first and only suggestion.

Starting with the opening, I didn’t feel the sharp bergamot and pepper note here. Instead, there’s a blend of fresh citrus fruits like lemon, mandarin orange, and grapefruit. I also got ambroxin here, which kind of covers the lack of pepper.

In a word, Ventana’s opening is a bit smoother and on the softer side. Who knows, people around you might prefer this pleasant smell instead of the strong opening of Dior Sauvage.

Here’s a complete guide on Bleu de Chanel Alternatives

Although, the drydown is very similar because Armaf has used identical notes here. Lavender, Geranium, Patchouli, and vetiver make the middle intoxicating, just like Dior Sauvage.

Moreover, the warm and woody base perfectly mimics the signature masculine scent of Sauvage EDP.

Look, you can grab Armaf Ventana for just one-third of the price of Dior Sauvage. And apart from the fruitier opening, it smells pretty much the same as that cologne. I guarantee you; people won’t be able to find any difference between the two fragrances.

If it’s still not enough, then the performance will surely win you over.

I admit that it’s not a beast mode cologne like Dior Sauvage, but the longevity is impressive considering the low price. I got up to 6 hours from this with strong projection for the first 3-4 hours.

And if you reapply after that, it’ll easily last and continue to bring you compliments till the end of the night.

WHEN TO WEAR:

Armaf Ventana is a perfect fit for Summer, Spring, and Fall. It’s basically an all-year-round cologne. The fruit and woody- ambroxan notes make this suitable for any time in a day or night.

For me, this fragrance would work in any casual, formal, or Date night settings, just like Dior Sauvage.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY :

  • Beast Mode fragrance.
  • Compliments getter.
  • Versatile cologne for all occasions.
  • Lucrative shiny bottle.
  • Better juice quality than other clones.

Prada Luna Rossa Carbon

Prada Luna Rossa Carbon

Top notes: bergamot and pepper.
Middle notes: coal, metallic notes, watery notes, soil, and lavender.
Base notes: ambroxan and patchouli.

It’s the most premium clone of Dior Sauvage. Actually, this is a fantastic cologne on its own, just that the similar notes and scent profile make it a worthy alternative to Sauvage.

Also, this is one of the best-selling men’s fragrances, and with good reason.

First off, you’ll notice the similarity between these two colognes right from the start. Just like Dior Sauvage, Prada luna Rossa carbon starts with crisp, sour bergamot and spicy pepper. It smells very much like Dior’s masterpiece.

The only difference I noticed is that Prada Carbon’s opening is not as ” on the face” as Sauvage. It’s less spicy and fresher as the bergamot is prominent.

I think this is a smoother-smelling fragrance compared to Dior Sauvage. So the chance of people liking this pleasant scent from the get-go is higher.

In the middle, you’ll get the familiar lavender note of Sauvage. But this is also where Prada’s cologne takes a different turn. Instead of Sauvage’s spicy ambroxan middle, this one has some earthy and salty aquatic notes that wonderfully complement the floral burst of lavender.

Finally, the ambroxan adds a musky and masculine touch that is reminiscent of Dior Sauvage. The drydown is musky and lemony, with a hint of freshness from patchouli.

In a word, Prada Luna carbon has an array of different notes that complement each other to create a citrusy, sharp, fresh, earthy, and floral fragrance. The juice feels elegant and luxurious, and it totally justifies the price tag.

You know what, I dare to say that Prada carbon can be called as the “Dior Sauvage Killer.”

Another thing to take note of here is the performance. It is on par with Sauvage with just a few sprays. Easily lasts 8-10 hours on me with a moderate but pleasant sillage.

WHEN TO WEAR:

Prada Luna Rossa Carbon is most suitable for Spring and Summer. For me, the energizing and modern nature of Prada Carbon makes it a safe choice for both casual or formal occasions.

It pairs incredibly with Suits or dress clothes. Everyone will love the mass-appealing smell of this cologne.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY :

  • Excellent performance.
  • Compliment is a guarantee.
  •  Versatile cologne for all occasions.
  • Top value deal for the price.
  • Luxurious bottle design.

Salvatore Ferragamo F Black

Salvatore Ferragamo F Black

Top notes: apple and lavender.
Middle notes: coriander and black pepper.
Base notes: tonka bean and labdanum.

This fragrance is more like an inspiration of Dior Sauvage rather than a replica. But, if you don’t want to spend so much money on Sauvage, then this is a solid option to consider.

This cologne needs more attention from the community as a “value for money” alternative to Sauvage.

First, Let’s talk about the differences between these two. Salvatore Ferragamo has an apple note in the opening, rather than Sauvage’s famous bergamot. It’s still fruity though, and supporting notes like lavender and pepper make this similar to Dior Sauvage.

After a while, the pepper note takes center stage and perfectly mimics the spicy vibe of Sauvage. Then I started to notice the creamy tonka bean in the drydown.

Fresh coriander and floral labdanum make this part of the cologne really sexy and attractive.
In fact, this spicy floral vibe reminded me of another best-selling masculine fragrance, La nuit de l’homme.

Honestly, Ferragamo black might not smell exactly like Sauvage. But trust me, it has a similar effect on ladies. The spicy sweetness vibe is divine and a guaranteed compliment getter.

WHEN TO WEAR:

For the notes, I would suggest wearing this on cold Winter and Fall nights. The classy smell will pair perfectly with both leather jackets and formal wear. It’s really versatile and definitely worthy of the price that you’re paying.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY :

  • Elegant fragrance.
  • Inoffensive and versatile scent.

Versace Dylan Blue

Versace Dylan Blue

Top notes: grapefruit, fig leaves, bergamot, and watery notes.
Middle notes: ambroxan, black pepper, patchouli, papyrus, and violet leaves.
Base notes: saffron, Tonka bean, incense, and musk.

Out of all the colognes, this one is very distinctive in terms of notes and scent profile.

But, it works as an alternative “aquatic” version of Dior Sauvage. Even the royal blue-colored bottle will remind you of the ocean.

Versace Dylan Blue opens with a bright and sparkling burst of citruses like bergamot and grapefruit. And then dries down to a warm peppery ambroxan scent. It’s remarkably similar to Dior Sauvage.

But the added scent of patchouli, violet, and salty seawater notes give this a slightly different tone. In the end, incense, saffron, tonka bean, and musk add a creamy sexy masculine vibe to Dylan blue.

For me, the depth of fruity and spicy notes here was the thing that made me choose this as a clone of Dior Sauvage. It can be summarized as a fresh aquatic spicy ambroxan cologne, which lands it in the same ballpark as Dior Sauvage.

Even if you’re not looking for a clone, this would be an excellent addition to your fragrance collection on its own.

Lastly, the performance was outstanding. It lasted more than 10 hours on my clothes and garnered lots of compliments in the park and office due to strong sillage.

WHEN TO WEAR:

This Versace cologne is versatile. It’s an all year round fragrance. The fresh aquatic vibe is very refreshing in Summer and Spring. Moreover, the peppery ambroxan middle will shine with glory on cold Fall and Winter nights. As a balanced fragrance, you can wear this on both casual and formal occasions.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY :

  • Cheapest clone in the market.
  • Fresh and opening.
  • It can be layered with perfume oil.

Ajmal Zeal EDP

Ajmal Zeal EDP

NOTES : Pine, Patchouli, Lavender, Geranium, Bergamot, Lemon, Vetiver, Orange.

This cologne from the House of Ajmal got a lot of attention recently as a budget clone of Dior Sauvage, And I had to check it out as it’s the cheapest out of all the colognes reviewed here.

To my surprise, it turned out to be a really good clone of Dior Sauvage.

Right after spraying, the fruity ambroxan vibe was similar to Sauvage’s opening. But the peppery kick is entirely missing here. Instead, I got a burst of pine mixed with lavender and patchouli.

It’s a natural green-floral type of scent, easier on the nose. However, it doesn’t have the depth of Sauvage’s unforgettable drydown.

Look, there are dome things absent here, like the pepper and ambroxan note. And this is certainly not as refined as Sauvage.

But for 25 bucks, you are getting a fresh woody masculine scent that smells like Dior’s best-selling cologne, and I think that is a deal no one should miss.

However, I was disappointed with the performance. The max I got from Zeal EDP was 3-4 hours with moderate projection. After that, it becomes a skin scent.

I would suggest reapplying in the middle of the day for it to perform better.

A TIP: If you want an even cheaper clone of Dior Sauvage, I have one more option for you.

There’s a cologne from La rive called “Extreme story.” It costs less than Ajmal Zeal and works as a decent clone of Dior Sauvage. This one also has a missing pepper note, but the cardamom in the middle kinda evokes that signature spicy feeling. Although, performance is average, like 4 hours.

Overall, It’s a clean soapy floral version of Sauvage with a 15$ price tag; what more can you expect?

WHEN TO WEAR:

This cheapie is ideal for Summer and Spring. But you can use it as a go-to backup cologne for any time of the year.

Surprisingly, Ajmal Zeal doesn’t have any synthetic vibe that’s common in low-priced Ajmal colognes. So you can wear it in both casual and formal settings.[/ts_alert]

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY:

  • Excellent underrated fragrance.
  • Long-lasting and complement getter
  • Strong fruity opening.

Rumz Al Rasasi 9459 Pour Lui

Rumz Al Rasasi 9459 Pour Lui

NOTES : Pine, Patchouli, Lavender, Geranium, Bergamot, Lemon, Vetiver, Orange.

Rasasi “Crocodile” is an awesome clone of Dior Sauvage. It adds a lot of depth to the Sauvage DNA by adding more fruit notes in the beginning and woody ambroxan notes in the base.

Also, check out our separate post on Creed Silver Mountain Water Smell-a-likes

In the opening, there’s an abundance of citrus fruit notes like bergamot, lemon, orange and grapefruit. Pired with the pink peeper note, this elevates the already popular spicy and fruity opening of Sauvage.

After that, this cologne goes really floral. I loved the drydown as well, it perfectly mimics the woody ambroxan vibe of sauvage.

Performance was pretty impressive for the price. It is on par with sauvage, so you can expect 8-10 hours of longevity with strong projection.

WHEN TO WEAR:

The vast range of notes of Rasasi crocodile makes it suitable to wear all year round. But the woody notes will perform better in cold Fall and winter. Since this is a versatile and inoffensive cologne, you can wear this on any casual and formal occasions.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY :

  • Excellent underrated fragrance.
  • Long-lasting and complement getter
  • Strong fruity opening.

Sensible For Men 1270 by Perfume Parlour

Sensible For Men 1270 by Perfume Parlour

NOTES: Pine, Patchouli, Lavender, Geranium, Bergamot, Lemon, Vetiver, Orange.

Perfume parlor got my attention for their low priced replica of famous colognes. Sensible For Men 1270 is a really identical clone of Sauvage. After spraying, I immediately got the same bergamot and pepper smell.

Although Perfume perlor’s scent has a bit of a synthetic vibe to it, that’s a compromise you have to make when the price is this low.

This continues in the drydown as well. It was hard for me to spot any major difference between sauvage and this.

If i’d have to nitpick, I’d say sauvage’s dydown is more refined and heavy than this cologne. The famous ambroxan base note of sauvage is present in Perfume perlor’s cologne as well.

Performance wise this is really impressive. I got upto 6 hours from this with strong projection for the first 2-3 hours.

The advantage with perfume perlor’s fragrance is the massive price cut. You can get this from 3ml to 100ml bottles so there’s a chance to test a small bottle first before getting a big one.

WHEN TO WEAR:

Just like Sauvage, this cologne is ideal for spring, summer and Fall.

If you really like to smell like Dior Sauvage without spending that much, Sensible For Men 1270 is a genuinely strong contender among the clones that I’ve reviewed here. It’s an all-year-round dumb reach cologne.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY:

  • Inexpensive Dior Sauvage clone.
  • Excellent underrated fragrance.
  • Long-lasting and complement getter
  • Strong fruity opening.

Final Thoughts

Dior Sauvage is probably one of the top crowd-pleasing colognes out there. So you can imagine how tough it was to find the best Sauvage clones. I hope you have found your desired fragrance from this blog.

For me, Armaf Ventana would be the first choice for a Sauvage clone. But if you want a fragrance with the caliber of Dior Sauvage, there’s nothing better than Prada Luna Rossa Carbon.

I had to leave some fragrances out even though they are similar to Sauvage because either it’s discontinued ( Like Zara Aromatic Future) or smells cheap and synthetic.
