Despite being released so long ago, Joop Homme is still loved by men all over the world.

So, if you are looking for Joop Homme alternatives, then you are in luck, my friend! Just keep reading.
What Does Joop Homme Smell Like?
Joop Homme by Joop was launched back in 1989. Even more than 30 years after its release, this cologne by Michel Almairac has still managed to retain its popularity.
Joop is an excellent, affordable men’s cologne that doesn’t necessarily go by the books. Its unconventional floral notes make it an interesting pick for men – but you wouldn’t guess that by how much guys love it.
Overall, it’s a floral, amber, oriental cologne that has its own masculine character.
Before I elaborate on the aroma, I have listed a breakdown of the notes present in Joop Homme below.
Top Notes: Orange Blossom, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, and Amalfi Lemon
Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Cardamom, and Lily-of-the-Valley
Base Notes: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Honey, Tobacco, and Vetiver
The opening of Joop Homme is quite intense – you get a burst of multiple citrus notes together with strong spiciness.
As the scent proceeds, you get a thick floral blend, along with some sweet cinnamon, that’s present consistently from the start.
Together the different notes create a sweet and spicy concoction.
The base has heavy vanilla which is accompanied by many woody, smokey, and warm notes. There is strong sandalwood, patchouli, tobacco, and honey – all put together with creamy vanilla.
Joop Homme is an excellent cologne to wear while clubbing, and weather-wise it’s best for the colder seasons. It has a massive projection and lasts for a very long time.
What Colognes Smell Similar To Joop Homme?
Joop Homme is a fabulously floral, spicy, and sweet masculine fragrance – so replicating this scent and striking the right balance can be tricky. This is why not all dupes of this cologne work as well as the original.
Hence, I have tried and tested multiple similar fragrances to find out which ones are the closest in terms of style, scent, and performance.
From all the scents I tested, I have shortlisted the top 5 alternatives for you.
So, here is my list of the best alternatives or clones of Joop Homme:
Individuel by Montblanc

Middle Notes: Orange Blossom, Violet, Geranium, and Jasmine
Base Notes: Raspberry, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Dark Chocolate, Musk, Amber, Patchouli, Vetiver, and Oakmoss
The first cologne on this list is Individuel by Montblanc. This cologne was created by Pierre Bourdon and launched in 2003.
If you look at its notes, you will notice that there are many overlaps between this and Joop Homme. And despite some differences, their overall scent is very close.
Individuel starts off with a fresh mix of fruity, spicy, and herbal notes.
There is also a fragrant lavender which helps with the smooth transition to the floral core that is very reminiscent of Joop Homme.
The base of the cologne has a rich, creamy feel. There is sandalwood, amber, patchouli, and oakmoss which are very prominent, all combined with creamy vanilla.
Moreover, there is also a touch of tangy raspberry and rich dark chocolate. Together, this cologne is rich, intense, and masculine while having a fully floral core.
If you like Joop Homme, I am sure you will like this one as well. It doesn’t project too well, but lasts for a very long time and comes with a reasonable price tag.
Where to Wear
Individuel by Montblanc is ideal for the cooler seasons, however, you can also wear it during the spring and summer to some extent. You can wear it regularly, due to its moderate projection, or even to some semi-formal occasions and parties.

Original Santal by Creed
Top Notes: Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Juniper Berries, and Coriander
Middle Notes: Lavender, Ginger, Rosemary, and Petitgrain
Base Notes: Vanilla and Tonka Bean
Next, we have Original Santal by Creed which was released in 2005. This niche cologne has a lot in common with Joop Homme and is highly reminiscent of it.
It was curated by the famous perfumers Olivier Creed, Erwin Creed, and Pierre Bourdon and has a pleasantly aromatic, ambery scent for men.
The start of this cologne starts off with sweet cinnamon, tangy berries, herbs, and sandalwood. From the very beginning, it feels very likable.
The core of the scent is more floral, you can smell a blend of spicy herbs, ginger, rosemary, and lavender.
The lavender and spicy notes remain for the rest of the duration and the base notes are creamy and sweet.
Overall, it’s not exactly the same as Joop Homme, but it is very similar to it. It projects really well, and lasts forever!!
However, the only drawback is the hefty price tag which is common for all colognes by Creed. So, you can give it a try if money is not an issue.
Where to Wear
Original Santal is perfect for winter and fall, I would recommend not using this too much during summer as it can feel overwhelming. Otherwise, it’s quite versatile and you can wear it to any sort of fancy event.
Why Should You Buy
- Similar scent to Joop Homme.
- Broad projection.
- Excellent longevity.
- Great overall scent.
- Versatile aroma.
Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier
Top Notes: Lavender, Mint, Cardamom, Bergamot, and Artemisia
Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Orange Blossom, and Caraway
Base Notes: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Amber, Sandalwood, and Cedar
Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is the next cologne which I think is very close to Joop Homme. However, it launched before Joop Homme in 1995, so I can’t exactly call this one a dupe.
This oriental, amber cologne was created by Francis Kurkdjian and is still loved by people even almost 30 years after its release.
Le Male is an irresistible cologne that starts off with fresh mint, lavender, bergamot, and spices.
There is an underlying floral note that remains subtly present throughout the wear.
The core of the scent is upbeat with citrus notes and sweet cinnamon. There is a warmth that comes with the transition to the base notes. Creamy vanilla, tonka bean, amber, and lots of wood make up the cozy finish.
It’s much less floral than Joop Homme, but the scent is very close – it is elegant, masculine, and timeless.
It projects well and lasts the entire day. This Jean Paul Gaultier cologne is not particularly budget-friendly, but with the quality, scent, and performance, I feel it’s totally worth it.
Where to Wear
Le Male is a perfect nighttime cologne, especially for youngsters. However, it can also be used throughout the day. It’s best for winter and fall, and you can use it sparingly during spring and summer as well.
Why Should You Buy
- Similar aroma.
- Less floral than Joop Homme.
- Great overall aroma.
- Excellent projection.
- Very long-lasting.
- Good value for the price.
Me Too Homme by Milton Lloyd
Top Notes: Bergamot, Spicy Notes, Lime, Lemon, Orange, and Wild berries
Middle Notes: Lily, Tobacco, Hawthorn, and Herbal Notes
Base Notes: Vanilla, Precious Woods, and Amber
The next cologne is Me Too Homme by Milton Lloyd and it’s an ideal dupe of Joop Homme.
Me Too Homme starts off with a very similar spicy and citrusy beginning to Joop Homme. It soon evolves into a herbal and floral blend, but the interesting take is the addition of smokey tobacco with it.
The base, again, is very much like what we are looking for. The whole aroma is taken over by creamy vanilla, amber, and lots of woodsy notes.
Me Too Homme has strong projection, excellent longevity, and comes at a very affordable price!
So, it’s an absolute win if you want something close to Joop Homme, but not exactly it.

Me Too Homme is ideal for winter, spring and fall. I would recommend not wearing this during summer. It is very much like Joop Homme and works as an excellent cologne to wear to parties and fancy events.

- Excellent projection.
- Great value for the price.

Top Notes: Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon, and Basil
Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Apple, Cloves, and Geranium
Base Notes: Vanilla, Musk, Patchouli, Oakmoss, Cedar, and Labdanum
The last cologne on my list is Opulent Shaik Classic No 77 by Shaik – a very fancy, expensive, and high-quality alternative to Joop Homme.
Opulent Shaik Classic No 77 starts off on a similar note to the Joop cologne. It has a bunch of strong citrus notes accompanied by spicy notes and herbals.
The core of this cologne is rather sweet, you can smell strong cinnamon and apple, along with floral notes of germanium and cloves.
The base is warm and grounds the scent, adding a tone of maturity.
There is a characteristic vanilla, just like Joop Homme, along with patchouli, cedar, oakmoss, and musk. The dry down is slightly powdery, but very pleasant nonetheless.
It has massive projection and lasts for a very, very long time. However, it’s super expensive, so you can get it if you like feeling luxurious.

If you genuinely enjoy the smell of Joop Homme, it’s a terrific perfume to own, but there aren’t many other perfumes that can match it exactly.
