Top 5 Perfumes Similar To White Diamond [Tested & Approved]

Written By Lamaya Mahboob

There are many fragrances that remind me of the 90s and early 2000s – White Diamond is one of those gems that everyone used to wear in those days.

Even now, the aroma of this Elizabeth Taylor is so classic and wearable. Hence, I decided to find out the best dupes and alternatives of this iconic scent and jot them down for you in detail.

So, if you have been looking for something that smells close to this amazing perfume, then you are in the right place, my friend.

What Does White Diamond Smell Like?

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor was launched in 1991 and as the name suggests, it smells luxurious and aromatic.

Being one of the first celebrity perfume lines, scents by Elizabeth Taylor gained massive popularity, and White Diamonds is one of the perfumes that really stood out to the ladies.

I have included the notes present in this fragrance below so that you can better compare it when getting the best alternatives.

Top Notes: Aldehydes, Lily, Neroli, Orange, and Bergamot

Middle Notes: Egyptian Tuberose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Narcissus, Carnation, Italian Orris Root, Turkish Rose, and Cinnamon

Base Notes: Amber, Musk, Sandalwood, Oakmoss, and Patchouli

This fragrance, created by Carlos Benaim, is very feminine, elegant, and uberly floral.

The opening of the perfume is strong and marked with bright citrus notes, spices, and aldehyde. The start is potent and transitions beautifully into a floral bouquet.

The core of the perfume is full of different floral notes. Jasmine and rose particularly stand out quite well.

As the scent progresses, you get the smooth base notes of amber, musk, woods, and oakmoss. They really work as the perfect base for this complex yet elegant concoction that is perfect for any lady who wants to stand out in a crowd.

Rather than an old-school scent, I would say that it’s a classic aroma that has massive sillage, projection, and longevity.

What Perfumes Smell Closest To White Diamond By Elizabeth Taylor?

Due to its huge success, it’s no surprise that White Diamond has given rise to many dupes and inspired fragrances over the years. While some captured the essence of the scent well, others missed the mark.

After wearing and testing many clones of this scent myself, I have shortlisted the best candidates and presented them to you in detail.

So, here is my list of the top fragrances that smell just like White Diamond:

Ysatis by Givenchy

Top Notes: Aldehydes, Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Galbanum, Brazilian Rosewood, Coconut, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, and Citruses

Middle Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, Narcissus, Carnation, Rum, Iris, and Rose

Base Notes: Civet, Honey, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Cloves, Amber, Patchouli, Musk, Vetiver, Laurels, and Vanilla

The first perfume I included on my list is not so much a dupe, but a vintage predecessor by the iconic Givenchy that smells a lot like White Diamonds.

Ysatis by Givenchy was launched in 19984 and created by the famous perfumer Dominique Ropion.

Since this was released before the Elizabeth Taylor fragrance we are looking at, it must have had a role in inspiring the latter.

Ysatis is a very pleasant, elegant, and aromatic perfume that smells very close to what we are looking for but it’s much creamier, sweeter, and richer with a touch of rum and honey.

The start of this scent is almost identical to White Diamonds, but it has a smokey, woody note that makes it feel much more mature.

The heart of the perfume, again, is very close, with many beautiful floral notes blended in beautifully with an additional touch of rum to add more character to the scent.

Finally, the base notes are woody, musky, ambery, sweet, and creamy all at once.

It has remarkable performance in terms of both projection and longevity and comes at a reasonable and affordable price. So, it’s a perfect vintage alternative to the elegant White Diamonds.

When to Wear

Ysatis is the perfect winter perfume that can also be used in the fall. It’s elegant, rich, and potent, so it’s ideal for formal events and parties where you want to make a statement and stand out. You can also wear it to date nights and other semi-formal events.

Why Should You Buy

  • Very close scent to White Diamonds.
  • Richer, vintage version.
  • Very strong scent.
  • Excellent longevity.
  • Great value for the price.

Extraordinary by Roccobarocco

Top Notes: Neroli and Peach

Middle Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, and Hyacinth

Base Notes: Oakmoss, Sandalwood, and Amber

Extraordinary by Roccobarocco is the next perfume on my list that launched in 200o and was created by Maurizio Cerizza.

Extraordinary has a very similar scent to White Diamonds, even though they are not exactly the same. This dupe is not as strong and there are some marked differences between them, especially during the start.

The aldehyde and certain citrus tones are missing from this scent. However, you still get a citrus neroli, combined with sweet peach.

The core of this fragrance is very floral and the characteristic jasmine and tuberose are quite detectable in this aroma.

Finally, the base is quite nice with similar amber and woodsy notes along with the oakmoss.

Overall, it’s a great replica at a great price with a very impressive performance, almost the same as the original.

Extraordinary by Roccobarocco is ideal for fall and winter. You can wear it to any sort of event, whether it’s formal or laid back. It is especially great for daytime wear and outdoor events where you want to smell ladylike.

  • Very long-lasting.

Opal Energy by KKW Fragrance

Top Notes: Lemon, Ginger, and Pear

Middle Notes: Orange Blossom, Tuberose, and Lily-of-the-Valley

Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vanilla, Musk, and Cedar

The next perfume on the list is a rather modern take on this classic hit – it is Opal Energy by KKW Fragrance, yet another celebrity line fragrance.

Launched in 2012, Opal Energy replicates the powdery, floral aroma of White Diamonds really well, but it is not as potent as the Elizabeth Taylor perfume.

It starts off with a similar tone sans the aldehyde, with added ginger and pear which make it quite lustrous. The citrus notes are there, but not as strong.

The heart of the scent is the main player and the floral notes are well-developed. You get a lot of lily-of-the-valley and tuberose, with some orange blossom that makes it feel refreshing.

The closing of the scent is warm and woody, making it a nice experience.

Opal Energy has a decent projection at the start but becomes of intimate wear after a while, and it lasts around 4 hours or so.

When to Wear

Unlike the other scents on the list, Opal Energy can be worn during any season. It’s less fit for formal events and more appropriate for casual or semi-formal affairs. You can also use it as a regular or work-wear scent.

Why Should You Buy

  • Good dupe of White Diamonds.
  • Fresh and floral scent.
  • Versatile aroma.

Marilyn Miglin 112 by Marilyn Miglin

Top Notes: Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang

Middle Notes: Tuberose, White Lily, and Orange Blossom

Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, and Vanilla

Marilyn Miglin 112 by Marilyn Miglin is the next perfume on the list with smells very similar to the Elizabeth Taylor fragrance.

Even though it is not exactly the same as White Diamonds, its floral tones make it an apt candidate for this list.

Marilyn Miglin lacks the starting aldehyde and citruses and takes off directly with the floral notes of jasmine and ylang-ylang.

The heart of the scent introduces some more floral blends and you get the delightful lily, tuberose, and orange blossom in this stage.

The closing is warm and woody, with some creamy vanilla completing the scent.

It is very affordable with excellent performance. So, if you want something similar but more floral, you must give this a try.

When to Wear

Marilyn Miglin 112 is quite versatile as it can be worn all year long, regardless of the season. However, it is best for fall. You can wear it during both day and night, for all sorts of events where you’d like to smell like a floral bouquet.

Why Should You Buy

  • Close scent to White Diamonds.
  • Very affordable.
  • Excellent projection.
  • Long-lasting.
  • Good value for the price.

Sedbury by Parfums de Marly

Top Notes: Clary Sage, Lavender, Tangerine, and Bergamot

Middle Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, and Iris

Base Notes: Benzoin, Vanilla, Ambergris, Vetiver, and Patchouli

The last perfume on this list is Sedbury by Parfums de Marly. Launched in 2015, Sedbury is floral, refreshing, and warm, all at the same time.

Sedbury opens with a beautiful touch of zesty and spicy citrus notes, blended with sage and lavender. This mix creates a scent quite close to the opening of White Diamond even without the aldehyde.

The heart of the scent is full of floral notes, with the characteristic jasmine and tuberose taking center stage along with the iris.

The base is very warm and creamy with vanilla, vetiver, and patchouli, along with ambergris and benzoin which add an interesting touch to the concoction.

However, it’s worth mentioning that like all other Parfums de Marly scents, this one is also quite expensive.

Nonetheless, Sedbury is a remarkable performance, much like White Diamond, and you can give it a try if budget isn’t an issue for you.
