Written By Lamaya Mahboob

If you are talking about a house having unique bottles, Jean Paul Gaultier would definitely cross your mind. There are a lot of great perfumes with quirky bottle designs in this house.

But which one should you add into your glorious collection: that is the million dollar question.

And, that is where my expert opinion will come handy. Which I’ve gained after hours of research and testing on the perfumes from the women’s section of Jean Paul Gaultier.

So, without any further ado, let us begin.

What are the Best Jean Paul Gaultier Perfumes?

Jean Paul Gaultier is a designer of France whose collection was presented first in 1976. When he was working in other big designer houses, they recognised his talent and he started getting recognition of his own.

He opened his own Designer house where he released his first ever fragrance in 1933. The renowned fashion house is known for peculiar packaging and unusual compositions of the perfumes.

Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances are always made from precious, expensive, and highest-quality ingredients.

So, here are the best smelling Jean Paul Gaultier perfumes for women:

La Belle Jean Paul Gaultier: Simple Gourmand Scent

Top notes are Pear and Bergamot;
Middle notes are Floral Notes and Leather;
Base notes are Vanilla, Vetiver, Amber and Musk.

I didn’t own a bottle of La Belle at first, I borrowed it for testing from my friend. As I was testing it, I realized that I should have this one in my collection.

It is a simple gourmand scent. But there is something about this fragrance that you just can’t get enough of it.

The juicy pear is the note you will detect after spraying it initially. After a few minutes, the pear sits on fluffy vanilla.

It feels like a cloud and the pear is the only sharpness to it. The fragrance becomes very sweet at this point but it doesn’t cross the boundary.

If you want to get a comparison of La Belle with other perfumes, it will be La Vie Est Belle by Lancome and Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent as they have similar fruity combinations.

WHEN TO WEAR:

The creamy gourmand scent of La Belle Jean Paul Gaultier makes it more of a winter and fall fragrance. It is for the nighttime as well because it is heavy.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

  • Very feminine.
  • Youthful and fun.
  • Mass appealing.

Scandal Jean Paul Gautier EDP: Most Popular

Top notes are Blood Orange and Mandarin Orange;
Middle notes are Honey, Gardenia, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Peach;
Base notes are Beeswax, Caramel, Patchouli and Licorice.

Scandal is a pillar fragrance made by Jean Paul Gautier. The idea of the bottle is so cool, the cap looks like a lady is falling into the bottle. It is very eye catching.

The moment the juice is out, you get a burst of sweetness not in an overpowering way. It reminds you of Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf.

The sweetness levels down with time and the thing that makes it different from any other sweet perfume is the patchouli in it. It settles the sweetness.

However, the sweetness still remains the main highlight of the show. So if you like your perfumes sweet, you know what you should get your hands on.

The honey mixed with jasmine and orange blossom gives this fragrance a dirty touch. Yes, it satisfies its name.

WHEN TO WEAR:

The warmth of honey gives you the perfect reason to wear Scandal Jean Paul Gautier EDP in fall and winter.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

  • Sweet scent.
  • Receiving compliments is a must.
  • Great long lasting perfume.

Classique Jean Paul Gaultier: 90s Classic

Top notes are Orange Blossom, Star Anise, Rose, Mandarin Orange, Pear and Bergamot;
Middle notes are Ylang-Ylang, Ginger, Orchid, iris, Tuberose and Plum;
Base notes are Vanilla, Amber, Musk, Cinnamon and Sandalwood.

Classique is the first ever perfume released by Jean Paul Gaultier. As its name says it is truly a classic scent made in 1993 by Jacques Cavallier.

I grew up smelling this fragrance as my mother used to use it all the time. So, it has a special place in my heart.

Ok, the first thing that you should know about this perfume is that it is a strong scent. It is not for the faint-hearted ladies. It will last at least 12 to 14 hours.

You will get pear and citrus for a little amount of time. The main notes in this fragrance are vanilla and ylang-ylang.

So, if you like vanilla, you will absolutely love it. It is quite intense and heavy. It has a sweet-floral side to it as well.

WHEN TO WEAR:

The heaviness of JPG Classique makes it appropriate for winter and fall. More appropriate for outside occasions.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

  • Fun and tropical vibe.
  • High longevity.
  • Very feminine.

Scandal By Night Jean Paul Gaultier: Darker Flanker of Scandal

Top notes are Honey, Bitter Orange and Citruses;
Middle notes are Cherry, Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Pear and Nard Himalayan (Jatamansi);
Base notes are Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Amberwood and White Musk.

Scandal By Night is a flanker of Scandal. The bottles of these two perfumes look the same except the juice colour of Scandal By Night is a bit darker.

The first word that will come out of your mouth when you spray this is ‘sexy’.

If you have tried Scandal, this is a darker and sweeter version of that. The darkness gives the perfume a defined depth which makes this more sensuous.

The vanilla feels more gourmand here. It is definitely a fragrance with a lot of sweet and sugary notes. You will want to eat this scent.

You can easily get a longevity of 12 to 14 hours out of it.

WHEN TO WEAR:

Thinking about which are the perfect events and weathers for you to wear this beautiful scent?

This heavy sweet perfume is best for winter and fall especially on occasions where you want to get noticed.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

  • Sweet fragrance.
  • Feminine fragrance.
  • Great Longevity.
  • Mass appealing.

So Scandal Jean Paul Gaultier: Floral Flanker

NOTES: Tuberose, Raspberry, Milk, Jasmine Sambac and Orange Blossom.

Yes, we have another flanker of Scandal and it has been released pretty recently.

If I compare So Scandal with the others from this line, the florals in this one is quite prominent than the sweetness. It still has a gourmand side to it but it works in the background.

So, the main note of this fragrance is tuberose. And this tuberose is powdery. If you are not a fan of white floral, you might want to avoid this scent as it is all about those white florals.

Orange blossom comes in the dry down. The longevity is great as it gives 10 to 12 hours of lasting. However, the projection is moderate. It is less than the others in the same line.

WHEN TO WEAR:

Although in the beginning, So Scandal JPG might smell like a summer fragrance because of the fruitiness, the heavy notes makes it appropriate for autumn and winter.

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

  • A unique fragrance with lovely fruity notes.
  • The tone is very syrupy.
  • You can enjoy it on any occasion.
