Tonka starts with a few floral notes mixed with a spicy touch from the clove. This combination does not stay for long, though. After the floral aroma is gone, honey spreads its magic and starts giving a sweet tone. Almond is present in this part.
Tonka bean comes in last, with vanilla and musk being visible as well. Vanilla enhances honey to make the scent more creamy and sugary. Overall, it makes you smell like a dessert; at the same time, it is a mature scent.

Kilian is one of my favorite houses and Back to Black is definitely at the top of their perfume list. But that was not the case when I got into the world of fragrance.
Such as when I smelt Back to Black the first time I did not quite understand the hype. However, by my nose getting mature with time I have released how beautifully a gourmand perfume can be blended.
As honey is the main star of the show, you may think that it can be sickening sweet sometimes. But it does not. I guess that is the beauty of a By Kilian’s scent. Of course honey is not the only note which is holding the fragrance. Tobacco and cherry come in line as well.
The combination of sticky honey and cherry is my favorite part here, I must say.
The sweet tone is the main accord here, yet you will receive a spicy touch from cardamom which tries to balance it. It only plays with honey softly by making sure the fragrance still is focusing on the sugary sweet side.

WHEN TO WEAR:
Back to Black is a classic sticky fragrance for cool breezy nights which lasts for a very long time. You can easily get a longevity of 24 hours.

The initial part of this beautiful perfume has bitter orange which gives a fresh and fruity start. After a few minutes, a fainted rose touches the orange with the most delicacy. You may be thinking where is the honey part then, right?
Well, the opening and middle part of the fragrance does not last that long. So then comes honey, as strong as ever. It has the power to make you forget about all the other notes and think it is the only elegelent which is present in your perfume.
But, what a presence of some delicious honey which is thick and sweet.
